Talvolta temo davvero di non amare più nessuno. Di non riuscire ad amare. E invece l’incontro è sacro per questo. Incontro qualcuno che mi fa pensare che sono ancora capace di amare.

Source: (Thursday) one of those albums from 2014 that if it were a shoe it would have a gaping hole in the bottom of it and i would have had to fill it with some news paper. i wore this shit out. an amazing feat (no pun intended) for a band who plays mostly instrumentals. i mean you have to pull listeners in hold them there and keep them coming back for more each time all with out catchy vocal hooks and back up harmonies. no “Imma BAWSS” here. nothing to quote, nothing to pretend to know the lyrics to when you are singing along in the car and then only really belt out a chorus. its just music that is compelling, dramatic, fun and technical all at the same time. this is the kind of record that instead of becoming the soundtrack to what you are doing, it compels you to start typing, walking or swinging your arms in sync with the music as if it were determining your next movement and controlling your next step.
this album ruled it and Mogwai seems to crank out one after another great album that always moves in a different direction with each album. i know some of you probably only have room for a few instrumental bands in your life but if this one isn’t in there its time to break up with one.
I lost myself on a cool damp night Gave myself in that misty light Was hypnotized by a strange delight Under a lilac tree I made wine from the lilac tree Put my heart in its recipe It makes me see what I want to see… And be what I want to be When I think more than I want to think Do things I never should do I drink much more than I ought to drink Because It brings me back you… Lilac wine is sweet and heady, like my love Lilac wine, I feel unsteady, like my love Listen to me… I cannot see clearly Isn’t that he coming to me nearly here? Lilac wine is sweet and heady where’s my love? Lilac wine, I feel unsteady, where’s my love? Listen to me, why is everything so hazy? Isn’t that he, or am I just going crazy, dear? Lilac Wine, I feel unready for my love.
(favorite song after “Don’t Explain” ) (Nina I love you.)
You can have Manhattan The one we used to share The one where we were laughing And drunk on just being there Hang on to the reverie Could you do that for me? Cause I’m just too sad to You can have Manhattan Cause I can’t have you
