Many times I'll have a client that has requested a certain dollar amount from their lender; thats not entirely bad but understanding that your pre-approval is based on how much you can afford monthly and the amount you can offer on a home will vary based on other factors. For example a person that is approved to $1500/month looking to buy a home in two different areas may be qualified to offer more in one city over the next if the tax rates are different in those cities.
