As for explosives, I find them rather useful in plenty of situations. You can actually carry a portion so small, that it could open handcuffs without tearing away your arm in the process."

Of course, she’s thinking aloud. Show off.

Teresa just gave a tacky smile at her direction. She figured that wrapping this up early would mean that she would see less of her. Which was good. Speaking of good, Jane not being here is also good, or this may turn into a battle of the egos and the brains – which shell hate to be into.

When she was told by Ms. Devereaux about her specialty and her thoughts about the case, she smirked slightly. Organized crime, eh? Not that hard to be in, at the first place. Play nice, Teresa. This is not the objective of the case. Go and be a professional law enforcement officer.

“Yes, I agree. We’re still missing something vital for the case. Something’s off”, she said as she looks on how she surveys the body. I’m not certain if Ms. India is new or old on the job. She wasn’t doing the standard that is being taught for law enforcement, but she wasn’t squeamish like a newbie.

“Oh… the girlfriend? Yes.”, she told her – kinda proud that the redhead consultant doesn’t know anything… that’ll show her, “She left in bad terms with the victim over some petty fight on what movie to watch for their date night tonight. Girl was devastated when we interviewed her. We’re already giving her file a check as of the moment.”.

     The moment the woman smiles, India instantly knows this isn’t going to be easy. She doesn’t mind some competition and she’s certainly not afraid of challenges, but if she’s about to wrap up this murder investigation, she prefers to do it quickly and as quiet as possible. The redhead knows she’ll disappear after she’s finished — she’s quite skilled at that — but she’d rather have this happening without an FBI agent on her arse.

     While listening carefully to Lisbon’s words, India kneels down and takes a close look at the body. Now, she’s done some reading on organised crime — at least enough to fool others — but her true specialty is weapons. The young woman slightly squints and looks around, trying to estimate the best possible location of the sniper. For the first time in her life, India wishes for a Division team to help out. Where are you, she thinks as her gaze graces the building across the street. It’s the most probable place, but it’s too obvious. I should check it out, she finally decides.

     The young woman turns back to agent Lisbon. “AR-15 is definitely not an easy rifle to handle, and someone who doesn’t have the proper training probably won’t manage it. Unless Miss, uh, Leone is a skilled assassin or an ex-soldier, she probably didn’t kill the poor nerd.” It’s funny, because India is a skilled assassin, yet she wouldn’t choose exactly the AR-15 for a mission of this sort. She can’t say that out loud, though, can she? So the redhead shrugs and continues, “This doesn’t mean that she didn’t hire someone to pop Keating’s cap for her.”

     “I guess a team is already checking the building,” India cocked her thumb in its direction, “but they should probably check the trees in the area as well. It might sound like a Louis de Funès film, but it’s not uncommon for some snipers and guns-for-hire.”

            The reports coming in on India today weren’t ones Michael wanted to see. If asked he’d say their actions were reflection of his training but there was something else there - he cared for some of his recruits - seen them as people and not just another body taking up space - it wasn’t like any of them asked to be here, they weren’t given the choice like he was.

          In the middle of arguing with Amanda on how to handle the situation, she shined some light on to why the recruit was acting out of character - it all made sense now. He told her he’d take care of the matter, how he still wasn’t sure. Walking down that residential corridor for the recruits he tried to think of how to ever bring the subject up. he could relate to her on some levels but giving out personal information to another recruit like that wasn’t on his to do list.

      Stopping outside her door, he took a few minutes before entering, he was still in charge so knocking was out of the question. “India we need to talk about your behavior today.” He looked at the folder he held in his hand. “You’re one of my brights when it comes to weapons - how’d you mange to almost shot yourself?”

     India tried to calm down her heartbeat. She knew that she’d fucked up today, and in Division even one mistake could cost you your life. I wonder when Amanda’s going to send for me, she thought with a shake of her head. A strawberry blonde curl fell on her face and the girl tried to blow it away when she heard the door open.

     She didn’t need to look to know it was Michael, but she got up nonetheless. The guy, although a tad strange at times, was considerably nicer to her — and the rest of the recruits — than the others. India kept her mouth shut for once. She’d screwed up, she knew it, and there was no point in either arguing or apologising. Straightening her back, the redhead looked at Michael.

     His question made her stiffen. India had replayed the entire incident in her head, trying to understand what she did wrong. Her hand most certainly did not slip — by now, guns felt like a natural extension of her arm. “I’m not even sure. I was assembling the rifle and apparently I paid more attention to the different parts than whether or not there was a magazine in the gun,” the young woman said, frowning. She had been distracted throughout the entire day, but that was pure carelessness.

     “This won’t happen again,” India murmured, more to herself than Michael. She'd been sloppy, and now that she finally admitted it was because of her mother, she could work on it. This was, as far as she was concerned, a one-time thing; she only hoped it wasn't a one-time thing due to cancellation.

     This time of the year was always hard, but right now, it blew.

     India tried to remove the grease stain from her shirt, but after a minute gave up. Needless to say, this day was a big failure, and she suspected it wasn’t about to get any better. First, she overslept — and it had nothing to do with not wanting to get up — then she got stuck under a freaking car. Not to mention the fact that the redhead almost shot out her own eye, and that was the first time since… ever, actually.

     Plumping on her bed, India closed her eyes. It was the anniversary of her mother’s death, and she could no longer ignore the fact. The date always had been hard to swallow, but this year was especially painful. Which was, in all honesty, unexpected. Now that she was in Division, India had an actual chance to track down the men who killed Sophia and give them a good arse-kicking. She simply couldn’t blow this chance. The redhead needed to concentrate, she knew that, but for some reason today was just impossible.

   India covered her eyes with her arm and muttered to the empty room,  “Get your head in the game, Devereaux.”

         “Calm down, it will come to an end - we do what Division did so well make an example out of them.” If the plan really worked was beyond him. “Make them think twice about coming out of hiding.” He thought about how she could help, he didn’t even know what he was doing himself - he didn’t want to risk her safety.  “Keep out of sight for now — I’ll come to you.”

     "I know, I know." She was just tired, and she could use a good, long nap. Sighing, India mentally smacked herself. Michael was the one who should be complaining, not her. "I guess you've already tracked my phone, so giving you my location is useless. I'll stay put."

              “India get out of there - he’s already taken Nikita who knows who he’ll take next.” His protection over his recruits didn’t end when he left or even when Division finally fell. “Amanda isn’t around anymore to keep Percy’s fan-base at bay, who knows what they are planning..”

     "I already cleared out. Won't this ever stop?" Now, India wasn't a particularly emotional person, but she was tired of running. "Is there any way I can help with finding Nikita? I still have eyes on that dude, so maybe..."
