You know what trope I really like?

When rivals act cold and distant from each other, pretend they don’t care but actually have mad respect for the other and look up to them, to the point they start to push each other to improvement and to do better just by their sheer competitiveness. 

When like, they know the other is facing some trouble and feign indifference but then plot different ways to help without them noticing, and going the EXTRA MILE just to make sure they DO NOT notice because their pride just won’t let them admit they actually care a teeny tiny bit. That odd, unlikely friendship that’s not quite a friendship yet, and they taunt and tease each other over silly things.
