Fernsehturm

The Fernsehturm is a television tower in central Berlin, Germany. Close to Alexanderplatz in Berlin-Mitte, the tower was constructed between 1965 and 1969 by the administration of the German Democratic Republic (GDR). It was intended as a symbol of Berlin, which it remains today, as it is easily visible throughout the central and some suburban districts of Berlin. With its height of 368 meters, it is the tallest structure in Germany, and the second tallest structure in the European Union.

In Greece, during Christmas holidays, it is customary to light a boat instead of a tree, in reference to the country's long naval tradition. The boat symbolizes the new course people set for their lives, after little Jesus is born. As a tribute to the Syrian people trying to set a new course for them and their families and escape chaos and horrors, my season greetings for 2016, come with a refugee boat full of hope. Along, comes the wish for Europe to evolve into the welcoming place they hope to find, when they began this journey of hope.
