there’s something about The Pit something about being surrounded by sticky bodies and pointy elbows something about being a part of the wave becoming part of something bigger and all the rage kept bottled up is let out poured out in this flood of passion and rhythm and sound and you can scream and it is something that is welcomed
there is something about The Pause the pause that comes after all the waiting and waiting to see people make noise that stirs up your heart and the pause is only a second long but that’s when you start living because with all the speakers blaring and the hot bodies packed in next to each other and all the voices singing together filling the space there is no time to think about anything else beside the music
there is something about The Chorus of that one song that everyone knows by heart and backwards the singer motions to the mass and the noise quiets and everyone sings until their lungs give out and you take it all in voices fill the air as everyone together pours their hearts into the words
there is something about The Drums they pulse through the floor and up your spine and into your chest till they’re pumping the blood in your heart and you can feel the music in your fingertips as it moves through your body and you’re alive
there is something about The Last Song or the song you think is the last song and they walk off stage and the roar never dies it is endless it keeps going and going and going and going and going until it is white noise and the chant starts up and every voice melds into one chanting chanting chanting chanting chanting and here they come again and the pitch of the roar rises
there is something about The Encore and the cheer that erupts deafening the spring return to your feet and the crowd becomes one unit moving in sync to the beat that returns to the air and you cherish it because it’s almost over but there is just so much energy flowing through every body in that room a shared energy coursing through every banging head every fist in the air every fucking vein
the room is flooded with this thing that makes goose bumps creep up your skin even though sweat is dripping down your back
that fills your lungs with the words you don’t even know how you know but you know every single one
this thing that makes you alive
