Have a periodic table on hand always, understand the very basic trends on that table, watch examples of the concepts you’re trying to hammer down. Understanding concepts over memorization always. Have a cheat sheet for all formulas you do actually have to memorize. Practice practice practice. Chemistry is a very practice heavy subject. You need to be trying end of chapter questions (like give them an honest try, no ChatGPT) then advise the answer key for explanations. Chemistry is all about concept based understanding and practice.

Life is so good because I just got accepted into the lab of my top choice professor, I’m so excited for my chem classes this fall, my thesis will be underway this semester, I’m concurrently doing research for the coolest Palestinian professor ever, found such cool spots to volunteer, I’ll be at the on campus gym allll semester, I’m signing up for Pilates and cycling classes again, I have the coolest bartending job ever that’s so fun and shakes things up, I’m dating the sweetest seafoam eyed boy, AND my tits look amazing. Like hello. Doing everything I wanted to do feels so funnnn I wish I could tell 2024 me that it gets better and that she was right to slow down and think about her goals and desires.

Every time you try to get your shit together, the first thought on your mind should be “how can I make this as simple as possible for the purpose of going from doing none of it to doing more of it?” Like I’ve made so many posts about this this week but it’s simply too true. How can you make this as simple as possible. Say you want to work out more. Instead of shopping for cute workout clothes and at home equipment, why don’t you just find a beginner video to start and wear something you already have. If you want to read more, grab a book you enjoy and set the timer for 15 minutes. Simple simple simple. Keep it simple when you’re easing back into a habit always. Habit breeds consistency. Only when you’re at consistency should you start adding extra steps to any process at all. Always remember that simple = consistency.
