While the governments of old are still out there, whatever they’re planning will likely occur long after I’m gone.”

This blog belongs to @aves-arts and covers the zombie au of my oc universe! Vick Pavlova and Jennifer Thompson emerge from their bunker to find the city of Nuevo Recinto in shambles. Together, they navigate the new post-apocalyptic world that was thrust upon them and face the logistics of managing a community.

Synopsis

Vick Pavlova was the head of an organized crime syndicate that operated around the globe. She’s the type to always have a plan for any situation. 

When the outbreak jumped across the pond and made its way to the east coast, Vick sent an emergency alert to her facilities and those who would be useful in a disaster situation. Underneath her offices was an expansive underground facility that could house several hundred people in an emergency. Once the final day to enter came, the office entered a full lockdown. Sealing itself from the outside.

The military scrambled to set up defenses against the undead hordes, but the sheer number of people meant that no fortification could hold out forever. 

While they were underground, members of the Cobalt bunker would be sent out into the city through the subway tunnels to scout the city and scavenge supplies on occasion. For months on end, they bided their time for the perfect time to emerge. 

When the day came, the world they returned to was unforgiving. The deteriorating barricades and empty safehouses told a story they’d soon be a part of.

When the military abandoned the city, some of those left behind banded together. The Clique was a group dedicated to working alongside each other and helping as many people as they could. Safehouses were established, makeshift hospitals were maintained, and an aura of hope brewed in those who wanted to bring back some semblance of normalcy. 

However, The Clique began to stretch themselves thin. It became harder and harder to keep up with the responsibility placed on them. The dream of a better future died when those most capable of maintaining security defected from The Clique. The last of the group were wiped out at the Griffith Observatory safehouse by the newly formed Marshals.

Formed from the remnants of the Nuevo Recinto Police Department, The New Marshals are the dominant force in the city. Once fighting to restore order to the city, they regressed and resorted to more aggressive tactics long before those in the Cobalt bunker returned to the surface.

Once those from the bunker established the Cobalt Refuge - the Marshals resorted to recruiting lowly raiders as nothing more than cannon fodder to bolster their numbers against the Cobalt Refuge. Getting into conflict with Vick’s group has caused the number of actual former police to dwindle even more.

Outside of these conflicts, the city of Nuevo Recinto is still home to many survivors. Despite the outbreak, it is not uncommon to come across others in your travels through the city. Along with this, the former military occupation has left the city with an abundance of supplies and equipment. 

Needless to say, Nuevo Recinto is a city bursting with opportunity. With the headache The Marshals have proven to be, Vick has to make the tough calls between her group and theirs - not to mention what other groups may exist outside of the walls of the Cobalt Refuge.

Final Words

While Vick and Cobalt were biding their time underground, Nelly had to tough it out in Los Angeles on their own following the outbreak. Its a tough place with easy to make mistakes. Perhaps someday Vick and Nelly will cross paths again.

Virus name: RITS-18 Severity: Tier 5 Origin: Unknown The origin of the RITS-18(Regenerative Infection Targeting Spine) virus is not clear. Cases of infection first began in the North African continent. Mosquitos biting an infected individual would result in almost certain transmission if it then bites an uninfected individual. Without this knowledge, the greater international community was unprepared for this outbreak to spread worldwide as fast as it did. Those suffering from early stages of infection will experience fever, nausea, sweating, and increased saliva production. These symptoms only grow worse as recovery is impossible. After death, infected individuals will regain motor functions and begin attacking the uninfected. The cause of this is still being researched. The infected are disoriented by bright lights, but are highly aggressive. Infected individuals are considered completely lost and unable to be cured with current medical technology. Combat with infected is inadvisable without proper equipment. Carry enough ammunition to kill any infected you see, and any that may hear your gunfire. Utilize their poor coordination to your advantage, attacking the brain is the most effective method of termination, dispose of terminated infected once the area is secure.

The RITS-18 virus has consumed most of the planet. Caution around the infected is paramount to ensure personal safety. Do not travel in the dark.

Persons of Interests Document

Heres something I've written based of the Zombie AU

The last helicopter left the city at exactly 12:49 AM on the 10th of September. I don't know why she decided to stay. I asked her, I BEGGED her to go. Yet she stayed. Once she puts her foot down, she doesn't back down. She would remain with me even if it meant saying goodbye to her family. 

First class tickets out of the city and into the safety of the military seemed like the best I could do for them. I figured they’d be safer outside than in the bunker right in the center of the city. That decision keeps me up at night. I wish I could tell myself that she doesnt know, but Jennifer is a lot smarter and observant than I ever gave her credit for. My only hope is the potential that they could’ve escaped and somehow made something for themselves out there. That's the only thing keeping their status as missing, and not deceased.

Jennifer’s ability to inspire people in desperate times shouldnt surprise me. People loved her, and they looked up to her for guidance and advice. When we started sending scavengers out, she shined as a leader. Amongst ex-soldiers, mercinaries, and former emergency services members, she won the pick for Chief of Security by a landslide. I know she is more than capable of handling herself, but I worry about her constantly. I guess I know what it was like to be in her shoes in the times before. Her status is alive. Should that change, I don't know if I'll be capable of documenting it.

Lucas’ fall into delusion was some of the hardest hitting of when we were still secluded from the outside. He had convinced himself that I had been too lenient, and that executing certain individuals who posed a threat would be beneficial to our isolated community. The fact that me killing him caused such a stir sent that theory to the grave along with him. Lucas’ status is deceased. It was the first life I had taken since the outbreak. I’ve killed many more people since, but it doesn't progress the community further. It just means less people that disagree with us and more blood on my hands.

Frances has been a great asset to the community as her pinpoint accuracy has saved many lives. The people and I owe her a great debt, but she shrugs it off as nothing. All she asks for in return is more ammunition. Oftentimes she acts as a scout in the city. Going in alone into the concrete jungle and bringing back important intel. In fact, she was the first one to encounter the Marshals. Current status is alive. One day I’ll find a way to repay her. Maybe I’ll look for her hat she lost a long time ago.

Some of our outer city manufacturers managed to find their way back. Whittaker kept his metalworkers alive long enough to make it to us from the radio signal we had sent out to our facilities. Not everyone made it back to us though. Cindy is currently missing at this time, but truth be told I don't think she couldn't have made it out there on her own.

 As for Hawthorne? Its hard to say for certain but… 

For a long time I was greatly concerned about Peyton or her gang managing to survive the outbreak, and launching an attack on us. As time passed the concern lessened, but I was always afraid that she would come to our gates and proceed to make this new life of mine a special kind of hell. That day never came, and Frances had become curious. Their compound was on the other side of the city, but that didn't seem to dissuade her. Frances’ report goes as follows:

“The place was abandoned, seemed like nobody had inhabited the place since the outbreak. Some kind of massacre took place. A bunch of skeletons were strewn about still wearing those stupid colored clothes Pb’s freaks liked to wear. I skulked around until I found her. A skeleton with its head detached lying in some command room. That faded purple jacket was unmistakable. No sign of Cat mask or that twitchy little shovel creep neither. Well, besides all the headless skeletons anyway.”

Pb, Peyton Beck, is deceased. I can sleep a little easier knowing that. Especially since I had nothing to do with it. Though, that still leaves Nelly and that big guy Jules uncertain. What are the odds they’re still out there? I don't like that uncertainty, but maybe without Peyton messing with their heads they can actually be reasoned with. Whatever the case may be…
