As much as I think that remake culture is exhausted and we don’t need yet another reiteration of a game that has been iterated upon or commented upon or directly sequel’d or been made for another game SIX times, and I know that Nintendo as a company only intends for this to bring in more money for their new (ish) console, and I would much rather that this money that’s being spent on the Ocarina of Time remake, IF the Ocarina of Time remake is going to exist as it is, I hope that they will do a true remake. I do NOT want them to remain faithful to the original storyline of the game. I would like them to remain faithful with the general thematic premise and conclusion, that being that the world gets much more fucked up and scary when you become an adult and that being a child is very lonely and leaves you powerless, but I do not want them to simply reskin Ocarina of Time with the 4k ultra unreal engine 5 ray tracing supergraphics because if they did that I would be upset.
Instead I hope that they redo Ocarina of Time as they would make it in 2026 with the same logline. I don’t want to assume based off of one screenshot, but form what has been shown it is very different from the original in art direction, in the very least. Another thing to keep in mind is this is the Zelda team, famous for Not wanting to do Ocarina of Time Again. I sincerely hope they utilize their power of knowing that people are going to buy and play the game no matter what to do something new and weird with it and I hope they do not play it safe. My consensus as of right now is that of tentative hope.
