I made these by running posts verbatim through whatever free web-based AI image generator gave me the best results. I broke longer posts up into chunks because it worked better & faster, & it turns out to also have worked better for posting them here. I screencapped the results & posted them here with the original quote visible in the screenshot & posted as plain text. I didn't include usernames except in a few cases where they were part of the post. I also never linked to any of the original posts. As soon as I posted the images here, I deleted them from the site & purged my browser, & deleted them from my phone.
I started doing it because AI image generators were new & fun, & I wanted the weirdest possible stuff to use as prompts. What came out was cool so I shared them. Eventually I was pretty deeply into it, & it became a project. At that point, I was consciously trying to balance in what I quoted between "this will make a cool image" & "this is absolutely from tumblr." By that I mean I looked for posts that contained elements of both.
I'm pretty sure I only quoted stuff that came from people I followed, but that might not be 100% accurate.
I tried not to have any presence of my own or to editorialize, but I might have done a little in the tags. I know I wrote & posted things on my main blog so I could put them here, which is all kinds of cheating, but I dunno; eat shit & live if you're mad about that I guess.
I want to say I was deep in active addiction when I did this. It was probably a lifeline, & I probably made some stupid choices. I'm not editing or removing them. They represent where I was at the time, which isn't anything I'm proud of, but it's real. I am proud of this project. I didn't & couldn't create any of the images, but I stirred the copypasta with my own little fingers & I selected the ingredients with love.
The image generators stopped easily giving good results & then the whole thing got evil, so I've stopped making them. I won't be adding any more to this blog except possibly for the Demon Grandson saga, which I have all the images for (it was so long my partner helped my generate them), but haven't put up. Otherwise, consider it framed & submitted for exhibition ♥️🙏
