At those words Alistair found himself stopping, and when he did he was pulled lightly by Zeus who hadn’t yet realized. The move didn’t break him from looking down at Aiden. Then bending down, Alistair said, “I know that. And I love you too. No matter what.” Then leaning forward he pressed a kiss to the top of Aiden’s head. He stood up and smiled before Zeus gave him a tug to continue walking. Alistair, not wanting to go inside with Zeus, stopped to put in the order with a very friendly waitress. She jutted it down and told him she’d be back with the take out in a bit. “He has a lot of good meals on the menu.”

When Alistair stopped, Aiden hoped that it was for good reasons. And not because he had said something to upset him or give him second thoughts about their relationship. When his mate echoed his words, saying that he loved him too no matter what, he answered with a wolfy grin as those familiar butterflies let loose in his stomach. No matter how long they had been and would be together, he knew they always would. And the sweet kiss more than perfectly sealed the deal. Nuzzling into the fae’s neck, he leaned contently against him while they waited for their order. ‘Good deal, I could eat a house about now’ He chuckled.

Alistair kept the smile on his lips as they walked, and to keep things light he banished those little thoughts he had been thinking at that moment. Instead, he focused on the zigzag of a walk that Zeus was pulling him along and his mate padding along side him.

At the response Aiden gave paired with that look, Alistair knew he hadn’t gotten away with hiding anything. Still, he was glad to have it dropped in order to stay on lighter notes. “Family walks sound lovely. And of course they wouldn’t be.” He laughed as he looked down once again at Aiden. “I just know my man is all,” he replied as they continued along the side walk in town. “Loki cooks up a bloody good meat and potatoes meal at Midnight Moon. I can put in an order for take out.”

It did worry him, when Alistair had those little moments. He knew that his mate had had a horrific life, and he hoped that he felt safe with him even though Aiden couldn’t give him the life that he wanted. And deserved. ‘I love ya. Ya know that, right? That no matter what, I love ya Alistair’ Aiden knew that he really didn’t need to tell the fae that, but also that it was nice to hear and say. Sometimes that little reassurance was needed. ‘Mmmm, that ya do. And Loki’s sounds perfect, need to see how that sonofabitch is gettin’ on’ He agreed, quickening his gait a bit to catch up with Zeus, while Alistair made their order.

When Aiden nudged him, Alistair found himself looking down again at his mate. He didn’t want to suddenly bring down their good mood, so he wasn’t all to sure how to go about wording what he had been thinking about. “Um… It’s nothing really. I was just spacing out.”

He waved his hand about dismissively to attempt to blow that whole subject off as just him spacing out. “Well. We could always do planned walks I suppose. And if your busy I’ll have Zeus to keep me company.” Alistair smiled as he looked at Aiden. “Steak sounds good. With potatoes and maybe a dessert.”

Aiden let out a soft chuff, rubbing himself along Alistair's leg. He didn’t fully believe his mate’s words, as they likely wouldn’t have sounded very convincing even to someone who didn’t know him as well as he did. He let it go though, for now, as the fae already knew that he could tell him anything.

‘Happens to us all’ He commented casually instead, but his midnight eyes did hold a knowing look. ‘I think that’s a great idea love. And I’ll be there, wolf’s honor. We’re a family, so family walks wouldn’t be quite the same without me, would they?’ Aiden teased, with a cheeky wolf grin. ‘Ah, ya do know your way to this Irishman’s heart don’t ya?’ He chuckled.

“We do. Can’t deny that,” Alistair said in a soft tone as he smiled. Zeus had a sort of zigzag motion to his steps, as if he meant to sniff something on the right only to be distracted on the left. The mention of babes had his mind wandering for a moment. To family. Not just pups to raise, but family. He had to shake the thought.

When Aiden said he was looking better already he smiled lightly. However, the question had a worried tone to it. “I have, but that’s not unusual for me. I used to stay in and study back home all the time.” He laughed and looked down at Aiden. “Alright then. What should we have?”

Aiden chuckled as he watched their dog. For all of his size, he was still very much puppy, and his easily distracted nature showed it. Plus it was just fucking adorable to watch. Alistair’s silence caught his attention soon though, and he looked up at his mate with curious midnight eyes.

‘What’s on ya mind there, darlin’? I can almost smell the wood burnin’.’ He teased, lightly nudging the other with his snout. ‘Well, we need to find a way to get ya out more. Don’t want ya fadin’ away on me’ Aiden replied gently, then made a thoughtful hum. ‘Maybe it’s because I’ve been wolfin’ out today, but I could really go for a good steak’

“Are we talking about having more babies already?” Alistair joked as he looked down at the wolf beside him. Zeus was happily padding along with them just minding his own while they chatted. “That is a good thought though. We’ll have to look in to that.”

Another smile graced Alistair’s lips as he began heading toward town. “I don’t mind it at all,” he said with a smile. The sun did feel good, and with the weather nice and cold he didn’t feel uncomfortable in his attire which was an everyday of turtlenecks and jackets to cover those burns. “While we’re here we should think up some where to get take out for dinner too,” Alistair suggested.

‘Maybe we are. And why not, we make damn good pup parents, don’t we?’ Aiden chuckled lowly. His voice was light and playful, but his eyes held a serious note. One day, he really did want to start a family with his male. A real family, who could carry on their legacy. It was probably a pipe dream, but it was still his.

Aiden stayed close to Alistair as they headed into town, his large body pressed to the fae’s legs now and then. He looked up at his mate, eyes adoring now. ‘Ya lookin’ better already. Have ya been stayin’ indoors too long?’ He asked, worried, before giving a wolfy grin. ‘Ya had me at dinner’ Aiden teased.

Alistair smiled as he looked down at Zeus. “Yes. He’ll always be our baby,” he said as he patted the dog on the top of his head lovingly. Zeus looked up at him, tail wildly wagging as he happily took in the love. At Aiden’s words he smiled again. “Always saying such lovely things. I might melt the snow if you keep it up,” he joked then added, “I love you.”

At the question, Alistair paused for a moment. “Well, I was thinking I’d get better sun wandering about town. There’s less trees and more direct light. It’s pretty cloudless out today so it would be perfect. Plus, when I am in town I do like to window shop.”

‘Indeed he will be. Sometimes I wonder if he’s lonely though, ya know? We give him all of the attention that he could need, but I wonder if he’d love another dog to play around with. Aside from me, of course’ Aiden chuckled, midnight eyes taking in his beloved dog and mate. ‘Somethin’ to think about, maybe? And I love ya too, my darlin’. So very much’

Aiden waited patiently while Alistair thought, tail swishing lightly around him. ‘Aye, sounds perfect to me sweetheart. Long as ya don’t mind a lupine bodyguard’ He teased.
