I have two in the rain because big monsters+ rain it's kinda epic. I'm not even scared of spiders or crabs but this crab is making me uncomfortable.. it's giving me the heebie jeebies. I love the fluffy one he doesn't even need white fur to live in the snow because he's the biggest boy.

i. have had. an epiphany.

okay so Eridians have

- hard carapace/shell

- multiple evenly distributed limbs with three-clawed hands

- musical language + air vents (to put it simply) to create those notes

those reminded me of a Little Guy from The Legend of Zelda... TERRAKO!!!!!

he's a diminutive Guardian (Laser Robot) from the spinoff game Legend of Zelda Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

he can make notes (for "talking") and music using those little pop-out tone holes. he sounds kinda like a slide whistle when he "talks", accompanied by robotic chirps and beeps :>

additionally, in LOZ: Breath of the Wild, there's the Guardian Scout enemy—they can't make music like Terrako can, but they do sorta look like Eridians (as in, the book description)

also ☝️ the Ancient Sheikah technology, namely the stone-like material they use in their structures (and automatons) is extremely durable + black/silver/tan similar to xenonite!!!

all this is to say: Guardians are the Eridians of Hyrule. yes the vast majority of them are Big Scary Laser Robots Possessed By The Demon King but it's whatever. they're sillay hehe
