A publicity-seeking radio DJ (Arnaud) is driven to the edge of insanity when he attempts to break the 11-day world record for staying awake. The stakes rise when a deranged caller threatens to kill him if he falls asleep. Broadcasting his quest to stay awake from a glass booth in Times Square, he endures a harrowing physical, mental and emotional ordeal as he summons THE WILL to survive against all the odds.
EXCLUSIVE: Matthew Shreder and James Andrew Felts’ sales company is Santa Monica-bound with a trio of new titles led by The Man Who Was Thursday.
(in which françois arnaud gave up being a leader of the renaissance, got a wicked tattoo and had an affair with jaimie alexander)

The Girl King, Karl Gustav
Hugh le Despenser the Younger (c.1287- 24th November 1326).
was the eldest son of Hugh le Despenser the Elder and Isabelle de Beauchamp the daughter and sister of two of the Earls of Warwick. Not much is known about Hugh’s early years/childhood but he likely grew up since his father was one of Edward I’s most trusted councillors. Hugh was knighted, alongside 266 others (including Edward of Caernarfon) on 22nd May 1306 at a grand celebration in Westminster, known as the Feast of the Swan. Four days later he married Eleanor de Clare, Edward I’s niece, however Hugh’s joy was marred by his mother’s Isablle death on May 30th.
Hugh, despite the high profile marriage to the King’s niece, was virtually landless until a change of fortunes occured in 1314 when his father-in-law died at the battle of Bannockburn, as the latter left no issue, Hugh’s wife along with her two sisters -Margaret and Elizabeth- stood to inherit the vast de Clare estates, however it wasn’t until 1317 that the inhertance matter was settled because of Matilda’s -Gilbert de Clare’s widow- alleged pregnancy, a claim that shockingly continued for three years!, during this period Hugh committed a number of fellonies that showed him as a man not to be crossed, for instance he seized the Castle of Tonbridge in 1315 which was held by by the long-time pregnant widow of Gilbert de Clare, however he was forced to hand it back soon, a mere year later he attacked a noble man in front of the King during a Parliament at Lincoln Cathedral. Needless to say, these actions did not much endear him to the King, however when he was voted as Royal Chamberlain things changed dramatically as he became the new favourite of Edward II.
Finally Hugh had lands and position. But this was not nearly enough for him. After inheriting the Lordship of Glamorgan, his next actions were to deprive his brothers-in-law, Audley and Damory of some of their lands too, marking the beginning of a long career (in partnership with his father), of grabbing as much land and money as he could get his hands on. Other dubious deeds followed (and I will be looking at these in later posts) and it soon seemed that, because of the King’s affection for him, he could do whatever he liked. It was like another Gaveston had arrived, but unlike Gaveston, Hugh was an intelligent, ambitious and ruthless man. And of course, the consequence of this was that nobody, especially among the aristocracy, liked him very much. (x)
get to know me meme | [1/7] favorite relationships: cesare & lucrezia (the borgias) “I am tired of my husband. I am tired of life. The only thing that never tires me is you. Can you tell me why? Why… Why we’re cursed with this feeling that feels so… natural and good? Why, when we’re together, God seems to sit in the room with us? And when you’re away I manage to forget you… and then one touch of your hand and God comes rushing back. God or the Devil. Whatever it is, it overwhelms.”
There is no hell, no heaven either. This world is what we make of it.
