And can you feel the love tonight? How itâs laid to rest.
Edward IV & Elizabeth Woodville + âCan you feel the love tonightâ (x)
His passionâŠcarried him at last beyond all bounds of reason; and he offered to share his throne, as well as his heart, with the woman, whose beauty of person, and dignity of character seemed so well to entitle her to both. The marriage was privately celebrated at Grafton [on the 1st of May 1464]. The secret was carefully kept for some time: no one suspected, that so libertine a prince could sacrifice so much to a romantic passion.

Life can be terribly unfair, canât it? Everything seems so golden one minute then turns to ashes the next. Can I ask you a question, Carson? Have you ever felt that your life was somehow slipping away, and there was nothing you could do to stop it?

18th january 1486, King Henry VII married Elizabeth of York at Westminster Abbey. (my âromanticisedâ version of Henry/Elizabeth wedding⊠It should go without saying that this gifset is obviously not *entirely* historically accurate ;D)
Near Christmas 1485, the House of Commons, when granting Henry VII the usual royal supplies, added a petition âthat he would please to take the princess Elizabeth to wifeâ. When this was read every member of the assembled houses of parliament rose and bowed to the king, who answered âthat he was most willing so to do.â From that day Elizabeth of York was treated as queen consort. Henry and Elizabeth were married January 18, 1486, at Westminster abbey, by their kinsman the Archbishop of Canterbury, âby whose hand,â says a quaint chronicler, âwas first tied together the sweet posy of the red and white roses.â It had been planned for some time and their betrothal, which had been cooked up by Elizabeth Woodville, Elizabeth of Yorkâs mother and Edward IVâs widow and Margaret Beaufort, saw the union of the Houses of York and Lancaster which led to the âa new unified regime in which York and Lancaster would sink their ancient differences.â The marriage between Henry and Elizabeth seems to have been happy and successful. The couple had seven children but only three reached adulthood: Henry, Margaret and Mary.
âBy Whose hand was first tied together the sweet posy of the red and white rosesâ
The first royal marriage of the Tudor dynasty took place on the 18th of January 1486 between Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. Henry had pledged to marry Elizabeth in Rennes Cathedral on Christmas day 1483. In 1485 Henry was the victor of the Battle of Bosworth and became the next king of England. Henry and Elizabethâs marriage was seen as the joining of the warring houses of Lancaster and York and a symbolic end of the dynastic conflict that had raged for 30 years. Elizabeth soon became pregnant and their first child, a boy called Arthur, was born in Winchester in September of 1486. Seven children followed, with only four living to adulthood. Elizabeth died in childbirth in 1503 at only 37, Henry never married again and died in 1509.
The first recorded fireworks in England were at the wedding of King Henry VII and Elizabeth of York in 1486. They gained popularity during the reign of Henry VIII and by Elizabethan times (1558-1603) there was a fireworks master. Queen Elizabeth I created this post so that someone would be in charge of organising firework displays for great occasions. James II even knighted his fireworks master after a particularly excellent show of fireworks at his coronation. (x)
George Boleyn being the Supportive Gay and Wolsey being the Judgy Gay is a creative decision I fully support.
Anne ânot-like-other-girlsâ Boleyn just went full Fleabag and looked straight in the camera wile calling Cardinal Wolsey âHenryâs workwifeâ.
I donât know if I can explain just how much a wild ride Blood, Sex & Royalty is but I am having a really good time
Itâs like watching a drama school performance, itâs so silly but also kind of intriguing? And low budget.
