————- THE ROAD I WALK IS PAVED IN GOLD TO GLORIFY MY PLATINUM SOUL. I’LL buy MY WAY TO TALK TO god SO HE CAN LIVE WITH WHAT I’M NOT.
x rune.
“ Ages…. “ He parroted in thought, flipping upside down from a nearby branch. While pulling himself upright the child pondered. Okay, she was far older than she looked but that still didn’t quite narrow it down! Still, he put it aside for now. Their climb up a far larger tree provoked a sense of adventure. Even as a toddler Rune had an inclination to climb trees, while his wings were still small and patched with grey down. But it sure seemed like the self-proclaimed “winged monkey” had met his match. The other was climbed far faster and with far more skill then he could display. Occasionally his wings would snag on the branches, being how big of a hassle they were. Soon enough however he was out and trailing behind her. Finally with a gasp of air, the winged child pushed through the veil of leaves, and he perched up onto another branch beside her, taking in the view. Green as far as the eye could see, until it tapered off into the distance. The only thing that interrupted the endless pattern was a small clearing in the distance where unfamiliar structures gathered inside one big circle. A settlement. “ Kells? “ Rune parroted. “ Who lives there? “ Active human settlements were something he had yet to come across in his young life. There were hardly any of his kind back home. “ Yeah, it’s…amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a brighter forest before. I mean, there’s some big forests where I come from but, you don’t find one in plain daylight quite like this. “ He grinned, scratching the back of his scalp in an almost sheepish manner. “ I don’t think I’ve introduced myself. My name’s Rune! “
❝ Humans live there. ❞
For a moment ; an expression of disgust crosses her child like features. She’s never liked humans. They’ve only come to her forest to take something from her. They are selfish && greedy, only thinking about themselves. So she’s grown a dislike towards them automatically. Though there is one... Brendan his name was. Yes. He’s not like the others. He’s kind && loyal && fun to be with. Aisling would let him into the forest all the time, protecting him && the cat, Pangur, from any danger they could face here.
❝ They are scared... That’s why they’ve built that wall. && they never come into forest. ❞
She huffs before she turns to look back at her forest. She’s always been wondering what they’re preparing for. What is it that scares them so much they feel the need to hide behind a wall? Aisling can easily climb that wall, though it would take a lot of her power. She’s not unlimited on strength like many would believe, in fact, climbing trees doesn’t actually need any of her powers && so she doesn’t use them a lot.
❝ They don’t take kindly to strangers unless it’s another human being. They would know it if I asked to enter... Though I would never. They have iron there. Lots of it. It hurts me.. ❞
She rubs at her hands, as if a memory of being hurt awakens in the back of her mind that carries so much knowledge && information about the world. She has seen humans grow && die. She has seen animals of her forest see their last days. Aisling knows pain. She knows pain both emotionally && physically.
❝ ... Well, Rune. We shall see if I want to introduce myself later. You have to earn it. ❞ She giggles childishly.
might not be around today. i’m really tired.
x not-so-bad stranger after all.
Those blue eyes of his followed her, head cocked slightly to the right when he spied the faintest of smiles. Slowly Rune would follow suit, opening his black wings and leaping to the branch she was previously on, before taking off and making a safe glide below. “ Ah—hey, wait up! “ All around him the world seemed to transform. The gloomy, eerie fog had lifted to reveal a what could have been equivalent to a green paradise. Rune had seen brilliant islands like Default, and calm, dark crystal forests back home. But the Forest of Last Moon was dull and grey compared to this one’s much brighter display. The child had paused to take it in at first. Then he realized he was falling behind. Opening his sleek raven black wings, the boy set off after her, flapping up to the nearest branch. He’d use the trees to his advantage, climbing across each one while getting a good view of the ground below. Everything from the deer to the sparkling fish. Every one of them seemed to greet her without a single bit of hesitation. So what was she? “ How long have you been in this forest? I mean, you seem to know it so well! Where you born here? “
❝ I’ve been here for many ages, ❞
is all she replies while she takes a spot in a tree, watching the other from there. She then looks up for a moment && then gestures for him to follow her. She grabs onto the trunk of the tree as if she has claws instead of fingers, moving with such ease that one would believe she was a spider. Her limbs have no problem with being stretched && bent far beyond a normal girl’s limits, && she carries strength to never slow down in her pace up the big plant. Not slowing down until she breaks the layer of leaves, breathing in fresh air. Where she sits she can see the forest, && Aisling waits for the other to reach her, then she gestures to the big area.
❝ It may not be a house. Not a cabin. Not a tower, but this is my home. My forest. Every little inch of this forest is covered in life from bugs to wolves. We live in harmony && peace. ❞
&& then a look of doubt lands upon her features, && she looks down for a bit. ❝ But bad things still happen. There’s still bad && horrible creatures roaming the forest, && I can’t save them all... ❞ She sighs to herself before she shakes her head as if snapping out of a trance. ❝ Over there is Kells. ❞ She points to the one lonely part surrounded by woods. ❝ They fear something coming all the time.. I can feel it when I’m close. I don’t know what scares them so much, but I know they will hurt my home. I have to protect it against whatever it is. ❞
Determined, Aisling looks far off into the distance where the sea lies somewhere. She’s not been there many times, but it’s just as beautiful as her forest, && she wishes she could go there more. She is needed here, && she wants to stay. She can’t let silly dreams lure her away from what she loves most.
❝ Do you like it...? ❞

He barely avoiding slipping while his wings readjust. He had been balancing between listening to her and making sure his perch was stable. Rune was stubborn enough trying to force down his fear, and maybe he was telling himself that there was worse than this to try and keep it hidden. “ I-I’ve hardly gotten the chance to— They’re kinda scarce back home since almost everyone else eats meat the—whoa! “ He was surprised, both by her sudden reappearance close to him as well as her gesture to help him balance himself properly. Slowly the child folded his black wings. At this rate it had become obvious that this girl was some sort of mystic being, but he wanted to know just what. Forest fairies and sprites are a rare sight back home. Rune furrowed his brows, debating with himself. He’d might as well follow along, if it meant keeping on her good side and getting out of here. He took a deep breath, and then sighed. “ Aw right. I’ll let you show me. “
A hint of a smile appears on the fairy’s features, && she takes a leap from the branch, body twirling backwards quickly before she lands on the ground in the mist. With a small gesture, the mist lifts && disappears, revealing the green of her home. As far as the sight can go, there’s beautiful colors mixed together into a calming view to take in. She is proud of her forest, && she doesn’t hide it.
❝ Come so! ❞
Just mere seconds ago, Aisling was ready to let her wolves take care of the uninvited guest, but as soon as he agreed to letting her show her his home -- she sparkles of excitement && wonder, && she quickly moves forward, moving in between trees && bushes where she’ll wait for him && make sure he’s following. Once the threatening darkness && feeling of anxiety lifts with the fog, it shows a paradise where she has spent her life ever since. The animals are her friends -- her family, && if she can make him understand too that they have greater importance than emergency feasting -- maybe then she can show him her world && actually introduce him.
Aisling moves quickly, but always waits for him to catch up if necessary. She’ll wait on the top of a stone, or in a tree, her legs holding her body up as her long hair almost touches the grass underneath her. Then she’ll twirl around && land safely on two feet before running off, an audible giggle coming from her every now && then. Traces of animals can be seen every- where. The fish in the lakes && rivers, the deer welcoming her as she approaches. Wolves lazily lying somewhere in the sun..

“ I know what it’s like to be prey. “ He muttered back, wings ruffling. Now his blue eyes were struggling to find her darting figure through the mist. He was struggling to maintain a confident gaze. He had mustered up a good amount of bravado but it was only a matter of time before he’d lose it and likely flee. Then finally his gaze locked onto a pair of glowing green eyes which peered back at him through the fog. A wolf. Coming from a world were most animals were sentient, it was hard to be fazed by such an animal. Unless it was aggressive. “ I would…I would try to defend myself. I’ve always had to. And I couldn’t, I’d flee until they caught me…. Fine. If you let me leave, then I promise I will leave without bringing harm to any creature in this forest. “ His mother once told him not to take a real risk if it meant possibly his life. Not unless he had to. His ears wiggled at the sound of a huff, and the child would leap down onto another branch, wings opened and trying to balance out his weight.
❝ You put fear into those creatures that face your hunger. ❞
She’s far from done. This is her forest after all -- if he tries to escape her, she will easily catch up to him. Perhaps she can even trap him here forever, forcing him to face the punishment of nature? A tempting thought, but she sees the child in him. She sees through him enough to locate that insecurity she’s trying to bring out, && maybe now she’s had enough of trying to lecture him when he refuses to listen?
❝ Have you ever considered something different? Berries, fruits. There’s a lot of other options. I -- ❞
She hesitates for a moment, && grows silent before she re-appears once again, this time taking her spot right next to the other on the branch he has chosen. She reaches out calmly, helping him to keep his balance for a moment before she stares at him in thought.
❝ I can show you.
I can show you my forest && show you that there’s other ways of surviving than killing innocent animals. ❞
She wants to show him it. She wants him to see the beauty of it && that not only her forest should be left at peace, but every forest there is shouldn’t have to live in fear of being harmed.

He cringed visibly, and gripped his hands around the branch he was perched on, inspecting the growing mist that started to flood the area. It was only then and at the whisper of her voice that a creeping suspicion sparked in his mind. Was this girl something more than just a feral child? Sure, at first glance most people could tell that Rune was something more than a feral child himself, but behind those horns and wings, that was a lie. He had no powers, no special gifts, just a pair of horns and wings with no use other than to glide and jump higher. Yet again the child’s wings started to ruffle under his cloak. Selfish? Was taking prey selfish? He could hardly catch a deer but his mother had told him that even an egg contains a life. Could taking an egg be selfish? “ I-I’m not selfish! My mother told me only to eat when I need to and spare everythin’ else! And she wasn’t selfish either “
❝ What if you were the prey? ❞
She’s gone once again, the mist hiding her frame as she darts behind a stone somewhere out of sight. A ruffle of leaves from the opposite side where a tree stands, && then the almost sound- less steps from her feet turn silent. For a moment one can actually believe she’s ran away, but there’s just a quiet sound of something now moving with four legs in between the thick mist that seems to never stop.
Glowing eyes watch the other from the ground, staring hungrily up at him as if it will jump at him any second. A predator is now circling the stranger, never taking it’s eyes off from him. It moves with such grace && silence, suddenly disappearing from one spot to another, yet never breaking the never-settling pattern of staying close so it doesn’t lose it’s prey.
❝ What if they killed you to eat you? ❞
&& suddenly those glowing eyes are gone, && Aisling sits on a towering stone where she can be shadowed, but still able to keep an eye on the stranger. A sound escapes her ; almost like a silent huff of distaste.

That actually stung a little bit. Not that Rune had intended to do any actual harm to the woods itself. However, she was right in the respect that if he was hungry enough, he’d probably look for a rabbit to eat or steal an egg or two but he didn’t consider that as wrong. “ No, “ The boy answered, tapping the roof of his mouth when he felt himself begin to stammer a little. “ That’s all part of surviving! It’s cruel when people jus’ do it for fun! And I for one don’t do that stuff unless I have to! Why would I kill an entire family? “ He furrowed his brows, and swooped down onto a lower branch to further. “ Lemme guess, they’re your family? “
Mist currently starts to sneak its way around her feet, keeping her safe if she’d have to escape. Eyeing the other first, Aisling quickly turns her gaze to the mist-covered ground. ❝ I have no family. ❞ It is barely a whisper -- a faint one that sounds like it echoes in the suddenly empty looking space being flooded by the thick substance of the fog.
The forest is the closest thing to a family she’ll ever have. The wolves treat her both like their own && their leader. She is the one who have sworn to protect her forest no matter what. Never shall an innocent animal be harmed by silly beings who think they can walk in like they own the place.
❝ ... How can you possibly hurt something like that? You’re selfish... Taking a life just to save yours.. ❞
gotta go. i got a job to do tomorrow so ill be gone for a few hours. see ya.

The black feathered youth promptly cocked his head to the side, watching as she vanished into the cover of the leaves. Swiftly he pulled himself upright with a few short flaps of his wings. “ Whattaya mean I shouldn’t be here? It’s just a regular forest, and I can protect myself if there’s any danger, thanks. “
❝ The only danger here is you. ❞
&& then she disappears down onto the ground, but quickly jumps somewhere else before peeking out at the strange being with a frown. She studies it, trying to wrap her head around who this is, && why it’s in HER forest.
❝ Are you here to take our food? Kill our families? Take our water? You can’t. Leave. Before I call the wolves. ❞

He flipped upside down from the branch he was dangling from. Consider it pure luck he didn’t fall. “ Wh-whoa! Oh, uh, hello! “
&& whoops !! She’s gone into the cover of the leaves in the trees. Shy? No, uncomfortable around strangers? Very much, yes. && while she is hidden ; she speaks up ;
❝ What are you doing here? You shouldn’t be here. ❞

x wind fairy.
a frown graces tiny features at the creatures rather rude words, her cheeks puffing out slightly.
‘ with speed, darling. ‘
she explains briefly but effectively, hands going to her hips before wings went aflutter, whipping herself into a tiny tornado.
and as she does the winds pick up in strong gusty bursts; though she stops just as quickly as she had started as to not do any damage. the girl was cautious and already a bit angry, and admittedly quite fast.
&& just to be safe ; the fairy has now taken cover in a bush where she can see what happens without being in any danger. She watches with awe as the tiny creature creates something that usually should not be made by something so small, && then Aisling jumps from her spot && up into a tree where she hangs up-side-down with her arms crossed, blinking at the other.
❝ Not bad.. ❞
&& she spins around, landing on her feet. Her knees bend to soften the fall, && her hands give her support, though she remains on the ground && doesn’t stand up, head tilting at the other while she frowns just a tiny bit. It’s easier for her to trust other creatures that are not human, because they only come to take her home from her.
Surely this fairy didn’t plan on that.
