Two Asian-American students were assaulted in Arizona for speaking Mandarin

Two Asian-American students at Arizona State University were on their way home Saturday when 22-year-old suspect, Kalie Rutledge, allegedly yelled, “I don’t speak Chinese” and told the two to shut up. Rutledge then followed them off the train to physically attack them. Justice may be coming for the students.

Even though I emailed them to confirm that everything was still as we had discussed before I booked my flight, even though they knew about this policy change two weeks ago, the managers of the organization I was supposed to volunteer with in Greece STILL decided not to tell me about the new"4 week volunteer max" rule until after I emailed them my flight information based on our previously agreed on 2 month volunteer commitment. So now, my trip to Greece is canceled, I'm not volunteering at a refugee camp, I'm out at least $500 in airfare, I don't get to go to my cousin's wedding in Sicily, and I'm incredibly sad and frustrated and angry. At least my job has graciously agreed to let me UNRESIGN. So in case you wanted to know how the last 24 hours of my life have been, now you know.

Well I gave notice at work today and my tickets are booked and my volunteer contract is signed and a little more than a month from now I'll be volunteering at a refugee camp in Greece.
