People within this community frequently talk about the Man in Black—and it’s understandable; I’ve done some of my most potent work with the aid of the Wilding Lord, as he came to me, and certainly think he’s a figure worth discussing. But I’m curious about the fact that I never really see people talking about the Lady in White. I can’t be the only one with experiences of the Spectral Dame, right?
In the context of my personal experiences, the Syzygy of the Divine Twins/Consorts are just as likely (if not more likely) to reveal themselves to me as the Verdant Man and Gilded Lady, and yet, the association of the Witch-Father and Witch-Mother as Black and White remains significant and pertinent. As such, it puzzles me how rarely I come across the Pallid counterpart of the Man in Black.
@queen-o-cryptidz I understand that she frequently shows herself as a Thanatic Omen (and as the Emissary of Death and the Dead, that makes sense,) but it seems very strange to me that she is boxed into such a one-dimensional role. I have come to know her as Mistress of the Deeps, Minder of the Dead, and Mother of the Damned, and she has shown herself to be far more than merely a portent; I’ve also known her as Bridger of the Realms, Queen of Elphame, and Mother of Witches. I suppose I find it odd that people are so willing and able to look at the multiplicity of the Man in Black, but so rarely willing to explore or inspect that same multiplicity in Lady in White.
I do get, however, that historically speaking, the title of ‘Lady in White’ has been used a number of times to describe a variety of passive, ghostly portents.
