Me after reading aot spoilers and being disappointed and depressed ONCE AGAIN just like I did after the Naruto finale few years ago.

I think what makes this alternate reality so much more tragic is the fact that in this version, Eren chose to run away from everything just so he could live in peace. And in this reality it seems like he and Mikasa are constantly on the run from marley and paradis has most likely been taken over by them for some time now.

As much as Mikasa would have loved to live with Eren for the remainder of his short life and abandon all of the responsibilities of protecting paradis and eldians as a whole, I can’t imagine this would be a life where Eren would have been truly happy and contempt. He would have still felt guilty over not being able to help Historia from being used by higher ups within the walls, and he would have lived through his remaining life thinking whether or not he could have done something to save his friends or his home.

And that’s the real, heart breaking reality of this scenario. This is a reality that Mikasa wishes so desperately to be true, but it’s a reality that can never happen because of who Eren is. 

And through her dream of what could be, Eren reaches out to her using the founding titan and asks her to not live her life lamenting about him. To live her life free and happy.

He’s hurt her so much that he doesn’t feel like he deserves to live in this happy scenario with her, and uses the last ounce of his life reminding her to move on from him and live her life to the fullest. I’m not really an eremika shipper but this scene really hit me on an emotional level because of how tragic it really is. Whether you see their relationship as romantic or platonic, you can’t deny that these two have such a deep love for each other that is much more than labeling as just familiar or romantic love and I think that’s really beautiful.

This is without a doubt my fav moment of this chapter. I love the message it’s presenting.

The reason and meaning of life, is to just enjoy even the most simplest, fleeting and happy moments that living has to offer.

Even the most mundane, trivial activity can be proof of how worth it it is so be alive, and to find enjoyment in those small moments and to relish those precious memories that come with it.

Having Armin juxtapose Zeke’s stance on life just being an existence to pro create, and having him show Zeke how even he had small moments in his life that proved how precious living can be, was just beautiful.

Life is more than just finding a purpose, or trying to justify it with some kind reason as to why we are alive in the first place

Life is beautiful because of the moments, no matter how big or small, that show you how amazing and worthwhile living can be. No matter the hardships or struggles, as long as you have these moments that are precious to you, it’s proof that life is worth living.

No okay I can’t get Ymir out of my head. Why the fuck is she running around? Why can people see her? Is this her way of getting revenge? Eren looks like he’s fucking unconscious, who is controlling those fucking titans?

I’m not trying to be like “uwu Eren is being controlled and has no responsibility for the rumbling” because he fucking does big time, but why does it look like Ymir’s controlling him?? He’s not even present in the rumbling. I think he’s still in the Paths dimension somehow, and momentarily pulled Armin into it.

He asked to borrow that power, meaning he doesn’t actually have ownership. It still belongs to Ymir. After 2000 years of slavery I wouldn’t be surprised if this is Ymir’s revenge in some way.

And it would have some thematic weight if the boy who prided himself on being free ended up being a slave all along.
