a rusty bench beneath the grey clouds,

a place to watch the world pass by for a little while,

i watch the rain drops stain the floor

as the pavements become a warm orange as the street lights turn on,

children running home in time for dinner and birds flocking to their nests

whilst people walk their dogs and breathe in the crisp fresh air.

the trees before me remind me it’s autumn,

a time to change, to let my body flow like the leaves in the wind,

to watch the moon greet the sky earlier,

knowing that later you can get into bed with

a cup of tea so warm you forget that your hands felt

as if they were turning to ice earlier.
