It should be considered torture being put to work in the cruel California heat. Especially when the work is outside. The hype about California completely discounts how miserable the summers are. I have been outside stripping parts from boosted cars all morning. We are going to sell them for more than they are worth and make a hundred percent profit.

Usually my part in the process is a lot more thrilling than this. My particular skill set is useful in acquiring the vehicle. I started off swiping the keys to my foster mom's car. Eventually she caught on. Another foster kid taught me how to hot wire the engine whenever she hid the keys.

The boss insists I lay low while I am on probation. I appreciate the consideration but this is grunt work. I climbed my way up the chain of command long ago. I'm Wilder's right hand man. So loyal I went to jail to keep his name clean. He owes me what I have earned. Grunt work is tedious. There is no way I can go an entire year without getting my hands dirty.
