Emailing Professors as Trans or Gender Non-Comforming

So it’s that time of year again.. If you watched my first video I mentioned that I am starting my 2nd year of university.  With that being said, many of us who do not have our name and gender marker legally changed may opt to let our professors know about how we identify so that they use the correct name and pronouns. This is anxiety inducing because we never know if our professors will be accepting of us and it could end up affecting our grades at the end of the semester. 

I know that is is nerve-wracking.  Before every semester, I have to send an email to all of my professors and I struggle a few minutes before finally hitting the send button.  But you can do it.  Write that email and just click the send button. You will feel much better after doing it. 

I have an email already written up and I send the same one to all of my professors.  Classes start next week and so I sent the email today. Good Luck to all of you and I hope it goes smoothly as it should. Have a great beginning of the semester! I am here if you need me.

August 10th, 2017 - My T Day!

I woke up at 7:30 this morning and showered to apply my testim gel. It squirted out fast, felt sticky, and had a heavy order to it. All things I’m sure I will get used to. Just thrilled that this day has finally come. I’m happy.

August 9th, 2017 - My T Prescription Came In!

I woke up the next day after going to the pharmacy and finding out my prescription was out of stock, to a text message saying it was back in stock and ready to pick up! So we ventured to Philly again and got my T. 

Testim is what i was prescribed, tho I wanted androgel, the Mazzoni center only has Testim. But thats okay. 

Now I’m going to be applying this tomorrow morning since you’re supposed to apply it around the same time everyday.

My T day will be August 10th, 2017

I’ll post some photos of me applying it in the morning.

August 8th, 2017 - My Second Appointment At The Mazzoni Center

Upon Arrival: 

-Checked in at the front desk by giving my last name.

-Was given a buzzer and told that it would buzz when it was time for me to go back, instead of them calling my name. 

@2:40p: Appointment To Go Over Vitals & Get Prescribed Testosterone

-Nurse aid took my weight and blood pressure. (I assume this happens every appointment to make sure everything stays stable)

-Main Nurse (Who I assume to be a pharmaceutical nurse because she was who prescribed my T) came in and discussed my vitals which were all fine and normal. 

-That went by fast and as soon as I knew it she was telling me I was able to go downstairs to the Walgreens and pick up my prescription.  

-The pharmacy ran out of my prescription (I went with T-Gel) So I signed up for the text alerts which will notify me when I can come pick it up.

Kinda upset that I could get my T today, but what can ya do? 

I’ll post again when I’m able to pick it up.

(At least we got free lollipops when we went out to eat haha)

August 2nd, 2017 - My First Visit/Appointment At The Mazzoni Center

Upon Arrival:

-At the front desk they only ask last name and date of birth.

-Was given Ipad to fill out general information for a new patient

@4:30p: Trans Intake Session With Social Worker

-Took us (My girlfriend and I who came with me) to a cozy room with a couch and dimmed lighting to speak with social worker.

-Was asked my pronouns, asked about home life, relationships, sexual activity, mental health, my support system and when I first realized I was trans.

@5:30p: New Patient Appointment With Doctor

-Nurse checked my blood pressure and pulse. 

-Doctor came in and checked heartbeat and felt stomach.

-Talked more about starting T and told him that I wanted T gel instead of injections ( which was perfectly okay)

-Taken to different room to get blood work done. 

Everyone really kind and respectful of pronouns/preferred name. 

Next Appointment: August 8th, 2017 To get blood work back and get my T prescription!
