Another Book to Read...

If i was to look at another book to read after reading "Camera Lucida" by Roland Barthes, i think Brandon Stanton's "Humans of New York" would be the perfect option, especially for a college class. I feel like this book would be a great choice for a class to read after "Camera Lucida" because it somewhat relates to that previous book as they both consists of pictures and how they are defined. Also, "Humans of New York" would be a great college class reading because it is a more popular book; with the images and text being more appealing to the younger audience.

Camera Lucida (pg. 94-102)

The way the author observes a photograph using punctum and studium is interesting. When i saw the photograph of Lewis Payne, I did not expect the image to be a pre-death scene which i think is how the author looked at it too. The author explained the studium of the photograph to be a "handsome" boy but then stated the punctum to be "he is going to die." Reading this might make look at other photos while trying to find the studium and punctum.
