I don’t think… anywhere….? tbh and I’ll be extra frank, the DA fandom as a whole waned pretty quickly after the credits of S6CS rolled. Yesterday thanks to the teaser trailer, more of the former members seemed come back but… what was left of the A/B fandom more or less scattered to the four winds quite awhile ago. (A lot of people tend to be on Twitter but I mean… it’s Twitter.)

I have contemplated creating a Dreamwidth community (since I was really into fandom on LiveJournal back in the day, and it was created on the same open source code) but then I think… idk if anyone will join it.

Have you seen the news of Brendan Coyle doing theatre starting in september?

I did and I’m not going go into a full panic until I know 100% for sure he’s not in the movie. It doesn’t make me optimistic, I will admit, but the first month of dates are in London (and with only about a week in Dublin), and Bates’ scenes were primarily filmed at Ealing in the latter series, plus the others did plays alongside filming the TV series, so maybe it will work out. 

We also don’t know how long the filming will go on for, if they are going to do the filming blocks by location, etc. My brain keeps autofilling in with how they filmed the CSs, but they were filmed alongside the eighth episode of the series, and this is very probably very different. My guess is that they are also juggling other people’s schedules with filming other things, so they might be working on this for a much longer time. A lot is up in the air so I can’t speculate much more until I have more info.

Anyway, bad harvest!

Actually, he’s doing theater starting in August with Henry Miller’s “The Price” in August through August 25th, St Nicholas will run from Sept, 10th to October 5th, followed by performing it again at the Dublin Theater Festival  October 9 - 14th. 

So there is a small window where he would be able to do the movie, between the London show and the ones in Dublin, 2 weeks.  I dunno… makes me worry too.

Brendan Coyle will costar in “The Price” with David Suchet and with Adrian Lukis, who plays his brother.  Lukis is Julian Fellowes’ cousin, an actor who had a small role in series 6 of Downton Abbey.  It would seem weird that he would miss the movie for a role with Downton connections.  

Plus, Phyllis Logan will also be starring in a play at the same time.  

I read the following:  

“Next up in the studio, Lucy Bailey directs the UK premiere of Joanna Murray Smith’s Switzerland (1 August to 1 September), with Downton Abbey star Phyllis Logan in the lead role.

Joining the previously announced David Suchet in The Price will be Olivier Award-winner Brendan Coyle. Church directs the 50th-anniversary production of Arthur Miller’s play from 9 to 25 August.”

IMDB now lists Brendan Coyle as playing John Bates in an untitled Downton Abbey project that is in preproduction.
