niko had almost expected the other to remain silent but a fond smile sneaks onto his lips when she speaks back. “it’d be easier to believe if i hadn’t complained about classes everyday for four years,” he chuckles and follows her in raising his beer and clinking it against her glass of water. “mm, so are you saying the library is the only place i can continue seeing you?” niko asks after he’s had a drink and looks over at jade– clearly getting a confidence boost from the alcohol. “not that i haven’t enjoyed our little library rendezvous, it just might be a little hard to visit when i’m all the way in new york.” 

“well, we all do that. classes suck. it’s the people you miss.” jade chuckles along with him, clinking her drink and then taking a big gulp in celebration. “it doesn’t have to be the library.” she takes another sip before continuing,  “i’ve just gotten so used to seeing you at there is all. gonna miss having you there to keep me company.” it’s genuine. niko had made work a lot more enjoyable. reshelving books was the most mundane job ever, but when she had someone making her laugh while doing so, it wasn’t that bad. “aw, don’t make me sad! new york is so far away.” she sighs and playfully punches him on the arm. “let’s make the most of the night then – since it’s our last time seeing each other for a while or whatever.”

ANOTHER SMILE and micah’s leaning down for her to get a better grip — sticking his tongue out at her when she pulls away . ‘ extremely , that’s why i’m glad i ran into you , ’ he replies , standing next to her and dropping an arm over her shoulders . ‘ — because you make my day a little bit livelier . ’ micah chuckles , squeezing her shoulder as he steer them towards the exit — a way of saying he was tagging along . ‘ im surprised you even had to ask . ’

an arm around her shoulders. oh god. it’s hard to stay focused on anything but that. it’s also hard to focus on anything but the excitement she feels when he agrees to get coffee with her. she makes sure not to let it show though. she’s supposed to play it cool, but that’s something she’s never been. jade laughs when she feels him steer her toward the door before nudging him in the side with her elbow.  ‘ you never let me down, micah, so i expected you to say yes. i was just being courteous. ’ she states with a bright smile.  ‘ hurry up, slowpoke! there’s an iced coffee calling my name, and i don’t have all day. ’ with another laugh, jade slips away from his arm and grabs his hand, leading the way to the coffee shop.

open event starter ! time : friday, june 14th at the after grad bonfire

surrounded by the graduating class and those that came to celebrate, niko sat by the bonfire as he thought over the events of today. he had graduated from college. he had walked across that stage and received his diploma. he had graduated. there are many people that would be surprised to see him actually complete his degree– him, being one of them, but he had done it either way. sipping on his beer, he smiles to himself at his accomplishment. “can’t believe i’m saying this but i think i’m actually gonna miss this place,” he says to whoever’s near him, “who would’ve thought?”  

jade could only imagine what the graduates around her were feeling. that would be her in the coming year. a fourth year. she couldn’t believe the time had passed by so quickly, and it wasn’t slowing either. the past semester had been quite eventful, and she hoped the next two would be similar  — except without all the manon drama. the thinking had caused her to zone out, but she had reentered the conversation when the other spoke. “it’s not so hard to believe. not after four years here, y’know? i don’t know how i’ll feel when the time comes, but i’ll probably miss it too.” jade smiles before holding up her glass of water in the air. “here’s a toast to you graduating and also to many more library visits even though you’ve graduated.”

     SOME of the worry at the situation falls away as the other girls smiles warmly at her. she tries not to let herself swoon at it, it was almost all too charming. maybe this would turn out better in favor. “ so , homework due wednesday ? “ she repeats slowly an amused smile on her lips as the girl quickly caught herself on the slip up. she pulls her phone out of her pocket quickly sliding to her notes down and quickly typing out the reminder. “ 60 ? jesus , maybe i really should start paying more attention in class … “ she jokes lamely adding a short chuckle for effect. “ uh , really ? that’d be a BIG help , “ her eyes perk up excited as she flicks to her camera and stretches forward to take a few snaps of the notes in front of them on the table. 

    once done she nervously pulls away still playing with the phone in her hand, “ um …. did you want to exchange number or something ? like if one of us a question or wants to study together later ? it could be helpful … “    

    “ wednesday. ” she clarifies with a bit more confidence and a small laugh to ease the tension she felt about it earlier. she’s interested in what the other has to say. she finds them funny, and the aura surrounding them isn’t awkward. it’s nice. “ yeah, i know, right ? he gives way too many questions, in my opinion. i mean, it’s a perspective, not a major course. ” jade slips her notes back into her bag once they’re done taking pictures.

    “ sure, i’m down. ” it’s a simple enough answer, she thinks. she doesn’t want to sound too excited, considering she hadn’t really spoken to anyone else in the class before the girl had walked up. she reaches into her pocket to pull out her phone and opens her contact list. “ here. you put your number in, and then, i’ll text you. ” she hands her phone over before adding, “ i’m jade, by the way. i don’t think i caught your name before ? ”

        HAMPER SLUNG OVER HIS SHOULDER, roman sauntered into the laundry room, a week and a half’s worth of clothes ready to be freed from its mesh prison. did it happen to be 2am? yes, but he couldn’t imagine doing such a chore at any other time of day. there was a certain kind of peace he found in the menial task — perhaps it was attributed to the usual solitude of the nighttime. it was rare for him to cross paths with another when he did his laundry, so tonight was a special occasion.

         “d’ya mind moving out of the way?” he asked the stranger, setting down his hamper. “you’re kind of blocking this machine.” sure, there were a handful of other options, but he had grown committed to this particular one in a way he failed to do with actual people.

        ANOTHER NIGHT SPENT SLEEPLESS. at this point, it had become a common occurrence, and it had gotten even worse since the blog had leaked. even if jade tried to rest, her thoughts would keep her awake — thinking of the disappointment she had caused her family or the finals that were finally upon her. so, she did anything she could to distract herself, which included doing laundry at ungodly times at night. 

           jade jumped at the sound of the other’s voice. she hadn’t expected someone else to be here at this time, but she didn’t question it either. jade turned to face the other, nervously tapping her fingers on the machine behind her. normally, she would oblige quietly, but this time, there was something standing in the way of that. “uh... well, actually, my clothes are already in this one. i’m so sorry.” she gave a half smile, hoping it was enough to ease the situation.

she  giggles  out  of  genuine  excitement.  she’d  never  been  to  a  club  before,  and  she  can’t  think  of  anyone  better  to  share  the  experience  with  than  sera. “ you  really  think  i  could  make  a  boy  drool ? ” she  smiles  as  she  thinks  about  the  possibility  of  that  kind  of  attention.  attention.  is  that  what  she  wanted  tonight ?    “ ok.  let’s  go. ”

what do you hope to do in the next 10 years?

“ i  really  hope  to  see  my  designs  on  the  cover  of  the  magazines  i  read  when  i  was  younger:  vogue,  cosmopolitan,  marie  claire.  also,  i’d  like  to  have  my  work  be  displayed  at  a  big  event  —  something like  the  met  or  new  york  fashion  week.  i  don’t  know.  maybe  i’m  in  over  my  head,  but  it’s  better  to  aim  high  than  not  at  all.”
