RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

So, I’ve been thinking the past few days about this account. I re-watched the source two weeks ago and I still love the play as much as I did before, but the lack of everyone else’s interest has really hit me hard. I’ve felt a lot of loss of love for Victor, and though I respect the muns with all my heart, I need to pack up Victor and set him in the attic. He’s had his time.

So this is gonna become an archive blog, as is @ishouldbeadam and @waiiiting. If y’all wanna still write with me, you can find me on blogs like @solitarytype & @reprcbates. It’s been a grand 4 years, truly.

Sweeney lost his footing as Victor punched him. He hadn’t expected him to be capable of hitting that hard. The hit to his nose left him bleeding, the warmth streaming down his face.

Victor’s words were worse, though. He imagined how Nellie would react to seeing him like this. His Nell, not Victor’s. She’d patch him up and probably cry at the sight of him, and maybe even confront her dear friend over it. But that would be manipulative, wouldn’t it? To let her see him in such a state and take her anger out on the man who was only looking out for her?

He tensed when a hand tightened around his throat. He’d been to lost in his thoughts to expect it, and his fight or flight instincts kicked in. He could still breathe, but Victor may as well have been choking the life out of him as he began to panic. He was a disappointment. He was weak.

“No. Stop, please.”

The words were forced and he couldn’t get a good breath in. It wasn’t the first time he had been through this, but God, he had hoped it would never happen again. To let himself get this vulnerable again. He had let Nellie down, just as he had let Lucy and Johanna down years before, and this was once again his punishment. But Victor was better than those bastards, wasn’t he? He’d stop, even for a moment, if he asked, wouldn’t he?

Victor was done listening to begging. He expected a lot more out of Sweeney, and he should have been disappointed, but that was only replaced by fury. Perhaps too much, but why stop now? Why shouldn’t he stop the malicious Sweeney Todd from reaping to his whim? Wouldn’t it be good to save London from this menace?

Wouldn’t it be good to save Mrs. Lovett?

    “Since when have you turned into a beggar?”

Still, his hand remained, his thumb keeping track of the panicked pulse in his carotid. He tore the scalpel out from his shoulder with a sigh, and with a shake of his head, he pushed the barber back and wiped the blade clean with his sleeve.

    “She really doesn’t deserve you. Just one mention      of her and your spine falls right out. What kind of      man hurts a devoted woman, only to fall to his knees      and weep like a child when she gains a true friend?”

It would have been fun to throw Sweeney into a grave, or use him for an experiment, but he just wasn’t worth the kill.

    “Dr. Frankenstein. Victor...if you’d like.”

The more he gazed over her features, the more he could sense something vaguely familiar about her, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. They’ve never met before, but maybe it was just the shape of her face, or her nose.

Perhaps it didn’t matter that much.

    “I could escort you to somewhere safe. Do      you have anyone you trust?”

Mrs.Lovett woke up an hour or so later, frowning in confusion for a moment when she opened her eyes and saw nothing but brown, unruly hair. Shifting ever so slightly, she began to smirk to herself when she realized it was Victor, sitting on the floor to be with her. She gave his hand a small squeeze, and moved to rest her head on his shoulder.

“Evening, love,” She muttered.

She couldn’t tell if he had drifted off to sleep or was just deep in thought, but she gently shook his arm just in case.

“What were you thinking about?”

Though Victor hadn’t fallen into a very deep sleep, at least he got a bare minimum of rest, and sometimes that was really all he needed. And when his eyes opened again, he was right next to Mrs. Lovett, who was perfectly safe and content, away from the horrors of her everyday life. He’d never seen her so well-rested and comfortable.

Maybe they should never go back to London. But that would be ridiculous, wouldn’t it?

    “I think I had a small dream, but I don’t remember      what it was about.”

His voice was just a whisper for now.

    “How was your nap?”
