She’ll giggle a little as she breathes in quietly, quite liking his scent under all the smoke.

He’ll blush and hide his face in her hair, squeezing her tightly, lightly stroking her hair, thinking he…. Really is crazy about her……

“I…..would really like that….but…..if you’re happy and safe….I don’t mind…..f-forget I said anything…”

“H-huh?”

She’ll blink and try to look up at his face, wondering what he looks like right now … is he being serious? Ah … that would make me happy too …

“…okay”

She’ll smile and hug him gently, curling her fingers up in his jacket as she breathes quietly.

“…I’m sorry.”

“What are you sorry for dummy? You don’t need to be sorry……”

He’ll sigh heavily as he hugs her tightly, stroking her hair, thinking he’s really head over heels for her….

“….and…. You don’t need to forget what I said…..if you don’t want to….”

"...I'm sorry ...for you having to arrest your girlfriend's father ..."

She'll bite her lips before tiptoeing and lightly kissing his lips.

"I ... definitely won't forget."

She’ll bite her lips and squeeze her eyes shut, wrapping her arms around him and hugging him tightly, wishing she’d just wake up from this nightmare …

“What’s … going to happen to me?”

“Huh? Nothing… Nothing is going to happen to you. You haven’t done anything….”

He’ll bite his lip and hug her tightly, resting his head on hers, rubbing her back, thinking yeah….and he’s the one who just ruined her life right there and then…..

“You’ll run your awesome bakery chain and make lots of people happy with your sweets. And I’ll always protect you, even if you hate me.”

“Sniff … I … already lost my mom … don’t take my dad away from me too …”

She’ll sniffle and cry into his chest, clutching his shirt tightly with her fingers, almost seeming like she doesn’t want to let him go for even s moment.

“Kazumi….I….I have to do my job….I’m sorry….”

He’ll frown and hug her tightly, stroking her hair, thinking he’s really ruining her life….I’m so sorry…..

“I really am sorry…. But….he needs to pay for his crimes. And even if you ask me…..I can’t. I’d do anything for you…..but I can’t do that.”

“Sniff … it’s not fair … why … why does it have to be me who’ll be left all alone? No matter what he might’ve done … he never … left me alone … sniff … but when he’s gone … I’ll be all alone …”

She’ll sniffle and cling tightly to him, almost seeming like she’s trying to keep him close to keep her loneliness from becoming reality.

“Kazumi….you won’t be alone. I promise. I’m taking full responsibility. I’ll look after you. I promise I won’t let you be alone again…..I won’t. Even if you hate me, I’ll be here…..for you. Always.”

He’ll rub her back sadly, stroking her hair and thinking he made her so miserable…..I’m sorry….I always wanted to protect you…..but I won’t ever let you be lonely…..

She’ll bite her lips, going really quiet suddenly as she looks up at him, no more tears flowing down her cheeks.

“You … keep saying that … me hating you … I … would never hate you … not Tetsu … and not Taichi either …”

“….I’m glad…..but ….we’re really the same person. I’m Taichi…..and…..all Tetsu was….was a name. Nothing more. I didn’t change my personality… I was myself…..”

He’ll squeeze her tightly as he looks down at her, lightly brushing her tears away from her eyes, thinking she….even when she’s crying she’s beautiful….. Geez….

“I’m so glad you could never hate me…..”

"...I doubt that's true ...you surely can't go undercover behaving like always ... or are you some sort of corrupt cop?"

She'll keep hugging him, resting her cheek against his chest as she breathes quietly.

She’ll smile softly as she opens it, her face freezing when she starts reading the information inside. That’s … that picture … that’s Tetsu but … who’s … Kawanishi … Taichi?

She’ll slowly get up and follow him to the balcony, slightly hanging her head as she leans against the doorframe, the badge still in her hand that’s hanging loosely down her side.

“…Tetsu … who’s … Kawanishi Taichi? Is he … like … your twin or something?”

He’ll take another drag from his cigarette as he listens to her quietly, blowing out smoke with a sigh, thinking…… Dammit. Hahh…..alright then….may as well…

He’ll turn around and look at her quietly, looking down at the badge in her hand, thinking she….was suspicious after all.

“……..Kazumi. Do you know what your dad does?”

“Huh? My … dad? He … owns a company … that builds and sells computers … to other companies mostly …”

She’ll frown a little, looking at him in confusion, wondering why he can’t just deny what she found … couldn’t he … have just told her that he has a twin …

“…..hahhhh.”

He’ll sigh heavily and rub his forehead before taking another drag from his cigarette, staring at her quietly.

“….you sure about that?”

He’ll quietly look at her before stubbing it out, stepping towards her, a serious look on his face.

“…..alright. I admit that I lied. My name is Kawanishi Taichi. I’m a police officer from the NPA…. Undercover in a gang to bring them down. Your father’s gang. He keeps himself looking clean enough…but I have nearly enough evidence to bring him down.”

He’ll step closer to her and smile sadly at her, taking his badge.

“…I know it’s hard for you to hear but……it’s the truth. He’s taken people’s lives from them…making money off drugs…….it can’t go on. I am sorry. I never meant to deceive you. I was just doing my job……don’t hate me.”

Her eyes will slowly go wide as she stares at him, weakly shaking her hand before angrily slapping her hand against his chest, looking like she's gonna start crying any moment.

"You're lying!! M-my father is a good person! H-he ... he wouldn't do things like that ..."

She'll bite her quivering lips as she keeps staring st him, her eyes begging him to tell her that he's just lying again. Don't ... Kazumi ... you know ... you've always known ... he isn't lying ... you know that too ...

"Why?! Why are you telling me all that now?!!"

She’ll curl up against him and close her eyes quietly, thinking that he probably looks really handsome when he’s smoking too … ah! Don’t think stuff like that!

“…Tetsu? Who’s apartment is this by the way?”

“Heh. I bet you’ll find I look handsome when I’m smoking.”

He’ll grin a little and ruffle her hair, resting his head on hers, raising an eyebrow at her question, thinking now…. Why did she ask that too….

“Hm? Mine. Why do you ask?”

“…on the door bell nameplate … that’s not your name …so I was just wondering.”

She’ll frown a little but keep her eyes closed, gripping his shirt a little as she wonders why she’s getting this strange feeling … he wouldn’t be lying to her … why would he?

“Hm? Oh I haven’t gotten round to changing it yet. Not really top of my list. I mean, the only people who’ll be coming here are people I’ve invited or brought. They know who I am.”

He’ll shrug a little and sigh, biting his lip as he squeezes her tightly before sitting up and running a hand through his hair, reaching for his cigarettes, starting to get up.

“You can get some rest. I’m still all nerves after what happened.”

He’ll head out to the balcony and sigh as he lights up, leaning against the railing, thinking he hates this….lying to her….ugh…..I hate it…..and….she’s smart…she’ll figure it out….I just hope she doesn’t hate me when she does.

She'll keep lying on his bed, hugging herself as the frown sticks to her face, the bad feeling not going away. He doesn't have a reason to lie to me ... why would he ...

She'll frown and glance towards the balcony, thinking that it's far enough away ... she'll quietly get up and start sneaking around, opening the drawers of the commode in his bedroom quietly.

"....huh?"

She'll blink and pull out what seems to be a uniform ... a ... police uniform? But ... he applied for my father's company ... why would he if he had a good job already ... ah ... no no no ... it's probably old ... he ... used to work for the police ... and ... left ... for some reason ...

She’ll follow him quickly and help him slip out of his shirt, her fingers gently grazing his skin as she takes care of the bandages, though there’ll be some obvious red marks on her own wrists, seemingly from those guys from before.

He’ll quietly watch her work, frowning a little as he stares at her, thinking she…..was hurt too……

“Sorry……those guys……I really wanna go back and teach them not to hurt an innocent girl.”

He’ll scowl and gently stroke the marks on her wrists before starting to tend to them as carefully as he can.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t stop them hurting you…….”

“It’s okay … I’m not really that badly hurt. You’re much worse. And I really was more worried about you getting injured even more severely.”

She’ll finish wrapping the new bandages around him, smiling brightly at him.

“Alright! Enough of that! You should get some rest now!”

He’ll frown and squeeze her hands gently, tugging her into a hug, thinking she really scared him whrn she screamed before…..she was terrified….of course she was……

“You were still hurt though….. And frightened…..I can’t get your scream out of my head….I worry about you you know…..I don’t want you getting hurt…..so…you have to rest too.”

He’ll smile a little and pull her down to lie with him, stroking her hair gently, thinking he…..geez….the guys will totally make fun of him for being such a sap….

She'll glance up at him, staying quiet for a while before gently poking his chest.

"You're not just making me rest so that I'll fall asleep and you can go and smoke, are you?"

She'll raise an eyebrow, seemingly quite convinced that that's what he was going to do.

"It's kinda cute how you try to hide it but your clothes reek of smoke. No amount of peppermint in the world will get rid of the smoke that's clinging to your clothes. You'll get lunge cancer you know?"
