“Thank you for your kind wishes, your Majesty” He chuckled as he bowed his head once again. “It’d be my pleasure. Really. I enjoy it way too much when I get to travel around. And if your Majesty visits Balia I’ll have my mother cook you and the Sultan some typical pastries.” John selling his mother’s cooking as per usual. He shook his head sadly and shrugged. “In my opinion there isn’t much to be afraid of, but yes, alliance is where our strength is found.”
“Will you? Although that does sound nice. Trying Balian pastries sounds very nice. If she could ever send any over, I’d love to try some.” Her eyes were sparkling at the thought of experiencing someone else’s culture. Jasmine tried to reign in her excitement though, not wanting to scare him off. “I’m glad to hear you’re confident atleast. We need a little of that right now. But let us both hope things don’t steer in the direction everyone is fearing.”
“She’s the best chef of all Balia, and I’m not saying that just because she’s my mother.” John chuckled, then proceeded to tilt his head and lock his hands behind his back. “It’s not that I’m confident, but I truly believe good always wins over evil. Love always wins, as cliche as that might sound. No matter how many days, years, centuries it’ll take. In fact, I think it’s been proven scientifically that good always wins”
aknightcalled-john:
“I know, but if I don’t get to see it all I will die feeling very unaccomplished. What man wants to die like that?” John chuckled, a bit embarrassed by his excitement but how could he hide it? In fact he didn’t understood how not many people were that excited about exploring. “Well if you ever need an experienced knight to watch your back while you go out, my services will always be available. Everyone should get to see the world. Oh no, thank you for welcoming me. With everything that has happened lately I was surprised I was even allowed to stay.”
Laughing into her hand, Jasmine sent him an amused look, “I see your point. Well then I hope you can see the entire world and that it lives up to your expectations.” She understood the sentiment though. Having lived majority of her life within the palace walls, Jasmine could understand the need to break free and see something new. “Is that so? Thank you for the offer, John. Maybe I’ll have you come with me when I visit the kingdom one of these days. Ah that…” She broke off suddenly, expression tightening, “Yes, everyone’s a little paranoid I admit. Not without good reason, but an ally is an ally and in times like these I think we need them. Still, I hope your stay in Agrabah is a good one, despite the worrisome times.”

John nodded weakly as he imitated her grin. He couldn’t help but feel excited every time he spoke about Agrabah. It was a place filled with mysteries and exotic sceneries, which was exactly what his heart yearned for. “I apologize for my boldness, your Majesty, but you should really go out more. There’s an entire world waiting to be discovered, which is something I intend to do some day. I’m John Smith, by the way. I’m temporarily serving in your court for Balia.”
“That’s a very big goal; the world is a big place, John Smith. But one has to admire your tenacity.” Jasmine eyed the new face carefully. She was happy to hear he was so taken with her kingdom but with recent events she couldn’t help but be wary of new people. Still she was willing to give anyone a chance. “No, no you’re right. I really should go out more. I just don’t get many opportunities to. Thank you for coming, we’re happy to have you.”

“I have to admit this entire city has already done so. I’m smitten by Agrabah” He chuckled as he shook his head, scratching the back of his head. “It’s very different from Balia, Princess. Has your majesty ever visited any of the Eastern kingdoms?”
The grin grew wider at the compliment. “I’m very glad to hear that, Sir. And unfortunately I can’t say I have. I don’t get out much. But I’m definitely willing to hear a tale or two if you’re willing to share.”

“Princess” John bowed his head slightly in respect, then looked up at her and smiled. “I have not. Yet. I’m patiently waiting for what I might discover here, whatever that might be. New things are most of the time good things, right?”
“In Agrabah there are,” She smiled back. Jasmine was always happy to see someone who came to her kingdom with open arms, “There’s many things to be offered here no matter where you go. I’m sure there’ll be something that catches your eye.”
“I have to admit this entire city has already done so. I’m smitten by Agrabah” He chuckled as he shook his head, scratching the back of his head. “It’s very different from Balia, Princess. Has your majesty ever visited any of the Eastern kingdoms?”
“I was once told if you walk the footsteps of a stranger you’ll learn things you never knew,” he chuckled, “which is what I’ve been trying to do all day long. Hence why I ended up here, I guess”
“You’ve been trying to walk the footsteps of a stranger all day?” Elijah asked, quirking one brow and smirking slightly. He knew the young man meant it metaphorically, of course, but taking the saying as literal rather than figurative was far too entertaining to pass up. “You must be exhausted. Welcome to Corona.”
“I have, yeah. I tried going wherever a dress maker would go today.” He chuckled as he shook his head. “Apparently this place has the best fabrics. Not that I’d care much about that but hey, I ended up here” John smiled and looked around. “Thank you, it’s a beautiful land. John Smith,” he extended his hand. “-knight of the court of Balia”

“That reason is as good as any, I suppose,” Jasmine raised a brow, “Did you learn something you never knew?”

BIOGRAPHY:
John Smith was born to be an explorer; to sail the seven seas, set foot on strange and exciting new lands, and to scavenge for whatever his kingdom requires of him. Born to Franklin Smith–a nobleman living in the kingdom of Balia–and Marie Archer-Smith–a young commoner who had once been a chambermaid for the royal family–John Smith lived with parents extraordinarily different than any of his peers. While most young noble-ranking children were raised to attend etiquette schools, prepare for suitable matches and for leading on in their parents’ legacies, John spent most of his youth in training rooms and fields with his father or in the marketplace with his mother. Though Marie Smith had married a knighted nobleman, she was still very much so of common blood, and was therefore ostracized from many of the other women living in the royal court. As such, she spent a great deal of time in town, and through her ventures, John was able to grow up with a taste of his roots and the full extent of his family’s heritage and making. It also gave him a thirst to know what life was like outside the protected royal walls of Balia…it gave him a thirst to see more, to know more. So while John’s father trained him for the makings of a knight in the hopes that his only son would inherit his father’s title as a defender for their home nation, John found himself secretly hoping that he could use his skills to branch out away from the kingdom of Balia. A land he loved…but a land he felt he wasn’t destined to spend the rest of his life in, nevertheless. However, on John’s twentieth birthday, when he was called upon by the royal court and asked if he wished to work as a traveling soldier and spokesman for their kingdom, John reluctantly agreed. It wasn’t the most ideal sort of position to have, given that he wanted to leave Balia for good, but he reasoned that it would, at the very least, give him a decent headstart on figuring out what to do with his life. And, more importantly, where to go. For the first few years, John found that he was fairly content with his new job. He was able to travel and see more of the magical realm, visit far off lands and learn all about their customs, and still have time to come home and visit his family and friends and report back to his kingdom. But then, when he was twenty-four years old, John was sent to a land he’d never been asked to venture to before: Agrabah. Home to the Sultan and his beautiful daughter, Princess Jasmine, Agrabah was one of the more secluded kingdoms in terms of communications with Balia. But with a dark faerie by the name of Maleficent threatening the peace that kept the realm of Verden at peace with one another, Balia needed as many close allies as possible. And with John serving as a spokesperson and middle man between the two kingdoms, he was fairly confident that he would earn the support and admiration of the kingdom of Agrabah. What he hadn’t been depending on, however, was how thoroughly and intensely he would fall in love with the land. From the bazaar the townspeople put together to the sprawling and glittering architecture, Agrabah was a sight unlike anything else John had ever come across. He became so smitten with the land, in fact, that when he returned to Balia to report that relations were good between the two countries, he asked the captain of the guard if he might be permitted to stay stationed in Agrabah permanently (under the guise of protecting their allies and ensuring that their newly-formed and strengthened alliance wouldn’t go awry. The Captain and royal court deliberated over their decision for a bit, but finally decided they saw no harm in John seeking out to strengthen and protect new lands so closely tied to their own. So, shortly after Johnathan Smith turned twenty-five years old, he packed up his belongings, bid adieu to his parents, and made the trek to Agrabah. Now, a recent settler to the land and hoping to make his mark in the land, John finds himself fresh-faced and eager in the face of the endless opportunities that await him. So long as Maleficent doesn’t tear the kingdom to shreds first.
