Typography Final
These are my final project designs. I tried a couple different ones but these are the three I put the most work in.
The first one is my least favorite so i didnt put too much work into it
This next one is meant to emphasize how letters are like building blocks and how they can be combined to build an infinite number of new and different symbols and meanings. This design is my favorite. I asked a many peers and they all agreed that this was my strongest one.
This is my second favorite design, I took inspiration from modern museum design where the design doesnt take away from the thing it is showcasing. This way the letters become the item that is displayed. I also chose blue because of the quote in the reading about water. I also think that the blue is a nice contrast with the black.
Type Final Early Work
Sketches, thumbnails, and planning of My type final. Complete versions will be uploaded later.
We The People (Project 5)
Early (digital) concept work which I really liked and ran with. I jumped right into this project and because I was looking into new typography when we first were assigned this and I think that style translates into two of my final comps. For the early worked we were supposed to put handwriting in but i hadn’t made any hand lettering I was happy with so I substituted a similar looking font.
The next pictures show hand lettering attempts and the ones i finally chose.
Final are cropped scans of final hand lettering I chose to use
early sketches for amendments project
Project 2 (Typography)- Articles
final pieces
The final version of my design. played around a lot with transparencies to get a modern design look that I thought would be visually appealing to the younger voting audience.
Also includes the envelope that contains the leaflet.
This was the first direction i went into but I could seem to get something that I found to be really aesthetically pleasing. It all seemed really cookie cutter and textbook with plain shapes and use of text. I borrowed some elements from here in my final but I wanted the overall look to be more clean and modern and appeal more to a younger audience.
1st two photos are the early version
2nd set is was the revises, middle of the project version.
Hillary Clinton project research, info, sketching/ notes
Our 4th project was to create a brochure/leaflet promoting Hillary Clinton and getting young voters out to the polls. Here is my early work, sketching, basic notes on the project.
This semester in typography, I think my favorite thing i learned so far is calligraphy. I still think I have a ways to go but looking at the first tries (beginning picture) and seeing the progress and even where I am now, Im so happy I learned calligraphy.
Experimenting with glitch art
For my Art Foundations final, I decided to revisit my first project from that class, and add to it. Here are more of my “Trading Cards”.
Project 0- Info Graphic
This project took a lot of work. Our task was to pick a topic, a problem, research it, and to create a poster that communicated what we had learned.
Pictures and what they are-
1- Mind map to organize info
2- Early poster design idea
3- Final poster layout idea (early design)
4- Sketch of Syrian refugees
5- Beginning stages of designing and poster layout in Illustrator
6-Vectorized Syrian Refugees
7- Some more vector art and imaging for my poster
8- First draft of poster. Middle stage of process, had this layout critiqued.
9- Final layout of Poster, just missing some cosmetic touches.
10- Final Product.
Just some more process work for Project 3
Somre Process work for Project 3, the sketches by themselves, before i cut them out and arranged them. Also an early version of the layout of the booklet on the bottom.
Project 3- (2 Days Part 2). For this project, we were randomly assigned a partner and we received their work for the past project (Project 2, 2 days). Our task was to create a sort of booklet, an accordion fold piece with 12 different tiles. The size was 4in by 48in. Were also only allowed to use three colors in addition to white. I chose to go monotone and stick to blues.
