BeBoldBeBald
I recently made the decision to participate in the BeBoldBeBald campaign in honor of my Grandfather, George Lott. It was something I wanted to take on despite who may or may not join me in the effort. My kit should be here any day. I honestly can't wait to honor not just my Grandpa, but everyone who has fought and lost against cancer, those who are currently battling cancer, and also those who will in the future. I challenge you to reach down inside of yourself and do something to make a difference. Something...something you can be proud of. Http://beboldbebald.org/teamlanagan
Amazingly accurate. PAY ATTENTION.
Are you in the food industry ? Info for those who are....you have two constant rules that pertain to the customer's dining experience 1) keep them hydrated 2) clear the dishes as they finish each course or item.
Worth the read!
Pay attention ladies and gents!
Resume Suggestions
3) Length. One page as a "rookie" in the employment field and no more than two if you're "experienced". After page two.....all is lost.
Resume Suggestions
2) Career Objective. No need to go into some soppy, generic sentence that says nothing but how you are applying for "X" job. We know this. You are applying for the position! It's why we're reading your résumé. Use the space on your résumé to demonstrate your skills, quantify your sales and repeat customers, or detail the company objectives you met and/or surpassed. Don't waste valuable space!
Resume Suggestions
1) Email Address: The email address you created in the 6th grade that is something along the lines of "phatass692001" is NOT an acceptable contact email address. Suck it up and create a general email address with your first and/or last name (without 69 or 420 in it). Why!? Because it's the professional thing to do.
Business Etiquette 101
12) Be You. What you see, is what you get. Does that mean you should curse like a sailor or burp aloud (if those are things you may do around those you are "comfortable" with)? No. But if you have to compromise so much of yourself that you can't find any parallels between the "business" you and the "personal" you, then adjust accordingly or find a career/profession that is more "you".
Business Etiquette 101
11) Be Strategic. Plan, implement, execute and measure. Set goals that are attainable and celebrate the accomplishment. It will keep you motivated until the next one comes around. Evaluate the process as you go and record good data on your results.
Business Etiquette 101
10) Be A Leader. You want to be someone people want to work with and are inspired by for their knowledge and expertise, not the one who has to "one up" someone, speak down to them or is just plain miserable to be around. Part of being an intuitive leader is listening to those around you.
Business Etiquette 101
9) Be Grammatically Correct. Look over your documents very carefully and do not rely solely on auto-correct to catch your mistakes. A MINOR mishap can make you or break you. If you can't take the time to review something like this in detail, how would you handle other projects? Try reading your document backwards. You may catch some errors that you otherwise would have read right over. Remember "there's a difference between knowing your s#&@ and knowing you're the s#&@."
Business Etiquette 101
8) Be Reliable. Being UNreliable is one of the fastest ways to kill a deal and/or a relationship. Show up on time, be prepared, follow through with the projects or initiatives you are given and do them well!
Business Etiquette 101
7) Be Eloquent. Speak clearly and effectively. Address issues as they are presented to you and speak when necessary. By necessary, I do not mean for you to cut people off in the middle of their sentence. Any respectable business situation will present you with an opportunity for rebuttal or continuance. Know when to speak and when to let others speak.
Business Etiquette 101
6) Be Flexible. Basic business relationships are a give and take. Remember that there's a difference between sticking to your guns for the benefit of your business and sticking to your guns because you're just too stubborn to see otherwise. Often small negotiations/flexibilities pay off significantly in regard to your bottom line because it's likely to result in a happy client who is more likely to speak positively of you, your service and your business.
Business Etiquette 101
5) Show Respect. Do not step on someone's toes because you do not know the difference between a personal assistant and a hired vendor or company. They work for your best interest and to make you money--not to be told how to do their job and certainly not to order your coffee. Happy team...great environment....profitable business.
