“I guess we’re partners then.”
radmila-dolohov:
“Sure sounded like that from here” Radmila drawled, before gritting her teeth, hands impatiently digging into her pockets. “Just to be clear-” Finding the little piece of metal, she pushed her badge in the girl’s face. “I’m a Gryffindor. A rude and unsociable one. Don’t imply I’m something else just because you don’t like what I think.”
“We’ve clearly got each other completely wrong then. I’m no blood-traitor, and you’re not a Slytherin. There. Matter's settled.”
itsonlymyrtle:
“Well that’s what every criminal thinks, isn’t it? But there’s always got to be some sort of proof left behind. Fingerprints, or something of the sort. Nobody’s perfect.”
“Can you fathom the type of power it takes to petrify someone? There aren’t going to be fingerprints.”
fennel-hornby:
“Erm… yeah, y’know… like when you were a kid and got a bunch of blankets and pillows and built a clubhouse? You never did that?”
“Can’t say I’ve ever heard of it. Muggle thing?” Alaina asked, just a touch of condescension in her voice.
radmila-dolohov:
Radmila stared at the girl for a moment before pointedly glaring at the blue-bronze badge on her robe. “I don’t know, how’s Hufflepuff doing?” She snorted, rolling her eyes. “That’s right, I dared to look disinterested, drag me to the pyres. Sorry that I’m not crying my eyes out for someone I barely knew.”
“Wasn’t being judgmental. She was a mudblood, I doubt any Slytherin would cry their eyes out for her.”
itsonlymyrtle:
“I wouldn’t say crazy. We were only trying to figure out what happened. That’s what Ravenclaw’s do. The whole thing’s like an Agatha Christie novel, isn’t it? Or Nancy Drew. All the same, I hope they catch whoever did it soon.”
“I doubt they will. Dark magic like that--well, whoever it was isn’t going to be caught.”
radmila-dolohov:
Radmila yawned, not even attempting to act nervous. As she dropped down on her chair, she noticed the other person staring. “Alright, what is it?”
“How’s Slytherin holding up then? I bet you’re all absolutely distraught.”
rosemary-mo0n:
“I suppose you’re right, but Hogwarts is so safe. I can’t imagine how anyone could have made it past the castle’s defenses. So it would have had to be a student or teacher, right? I don’t know… for some reason I just don’t buy it. This is Hogwarts, not Durmstrang.”
“I wouldn’t rule out anything until we know more. What we really need is to talk to the other houses to know more. We’re not learning anything cooped up in here, that’s for sure.”
fennel-hornby:
“Oi, it’s a wonder you lot didn’t come out any battier, honestly. Hufflepuff wasn’t so bad. We constructed a blanket fort, the likes of which you couldn’t even imagine.”
“...a blanket fort?”
“Merlin everyone’s so skittish. I’m just glad not to be locked in Ravenclaw anymore. People were going absolutely mad with theories.”

xaldinlovegood:
“If we were to entertain the idea of an assassin, well… Professor Dumbledore was at the stadium, I suppose. From the astronomy tower one could attempt to launch a spell that would be harder to detect… Hm. She could’ve been there, thwarted plans, I suppose.”
"You are thinking along the lines of Grindlewald then? Makes the most sense out of all the other theories. And honestly, is the best strategy for him.”
rosemary-mo0n:
Rosemary sighed, biting her lip as she assembled the hot cocoa thermos. “Well, yes, technically.” she nodded. “I mean you know all the relevant facts, now. But, I think… not many things cause petrification, right Al?” she whispered sideways to her classmate. “No one told us what caused all this, is all I’m saying.”
"Not many things at all. Dark magic is the only plausible theory. All the others are outlandish, bordering on impossible. Seems we have dangerous magic in our midst.”
thorley-greengrass:
It’s probably just a spell gone wrong. Someone playing with their wand without realizing what’s happening.
“Petrification isn’t something someone just playing around is capable of. The only causes would be a Gorgon or a Basilisk and those are likely, and hopefully, extinct. Other than those creatures, only a wizard harnessing the darkest of magics could’ve done it. Petrification is never unintentional.”
rosemary-mo0n:
“I want to thank you all for your understanding. As you know, this is a time when remaining calm will be to our benefit. I want to encourage you all to spend this time researching and sharing rather than worrying or speculating. And of course, I’m happy to answer any questions you might have. I’ll be setting up a hot cocoa stand near the fireplace if anyone needs me.”
“Are you absolutely sure you have no other information?” Alaina asked, flopping into an armchair next to her.
xaldinlovegood:
“Grindlewald?” Xaldin said, drawing on the possibilities.
“Then he would have made a show of it, no? Attacked someone vehemently against him?” he paused, “Or a muggle. Not a witch.”
"Unless it was a warning? Professor Dumbledore is supposed to be one of the few wizards he is steering clear of. That’s why he’s avoided Britain so far… Unless he’s planning an assassination? This wouldn’t seem like the greatest plan for it…”
He shrugged, “I can’t make sense of it…”
“That’s just it isn’t it? It doesn’t make any sense. Why would anyone want to attack a student? She’s not someone important is she?”
xaldinlovegood:
He nodded, “I just… want to know who could have done this? I know it’s unikely they’ll have those answers but..” he sighed, looking down.
“Are you concerned about Tyron?” Xaldin asked, peering back over to her, “I know he is in no personal danger - no more than you or I, that is - but I was very worried about some of my friends. I had my house elf deliver a letter to them. Are you able to do the same? I could have Flippy deliver one for you, if you want?”
“Thank you, but I’m sure Tyron’s fine. I’ll send him an owl later. As for who could have done this...well there’s loads of possibilities. Dark wizards, another student, maybe a teacher or a beast. Could even be connected to Grindelwald.” Alaina said, almost casually.
