Hey Starlings! Happy holidays to those celebrating!
I’ve been much busier this season than I had anticipated, so I appreciate everyone’s patience with my lack of uploads! That being said, the Nice Life special was an absolute blast to watch in my free time and I loved everyone’s festive skins so much—so, using this lovely template designed by Maruu, I did a drawing of my designs for them all in their holiday outfits. This was super fun to do, and I’ll be honest, I missed being able to draw as much!

Ah! It’s September already and Past Life has ended! (and Hermitcraft 10 is ending soon?? agh I’m so behind!)
This past month or so went by so fast! I seriously loved the ending of Past Life and I’d love to draw something for it, but I got super busy with school and have barely been able to draw, well, anything! Art block kinda sucks 🫤
That being said, I’ll probably be taking a break from social media for a bit to focus on IRL things. Not sure exactly how long that’ll be—hopefully not too long lol—but it just means I won’t be uploading videos/artwork that frequently—you know, pretty much what I’ve already been doing /silly
Of course I’ll still try to draw when I have the time/energy! That one Past Life animatic is getting done… slowly but surely… And I’d like to maybe make a post or video about redesigning my banner if I get around to it 👀

I haven’t been able to draw as much as I’d like to lately but when I saw these amazing Past Life skins by @commonantics I just had to draw something inspired by it! It was fun playing around with my rendering style and poses to make this look almost like a funky album cover? I’m not sure what entirely I was going for but I like how it turned out in the end!

It was so cute how excited Tango was about her skin, especially when everyone else was ragging on it. And it looked like a ghast to me. With the happy ghast lore I thought ghastborn probably need goggles to protect their sensitive eyes.
Congrats to Lizzie and Joel on the new kiddo! It’s so heartwarming to see the parents of MCYT start a new chapter in their lives! Wishing Joel, Lizzie, and SmallishLady a wonderful journey together 💛

And ooh boy, Hermitcraft! There’s a ton of places to start if you’re wanting to get into watching it, so it can be kinda overwhelming lol. But probably the best place to start is the Hermitcraft Recap channel—they do weekly summaries of any episodes that come out which can make getting into watching Hermitcraft a lot easier!
If you're interested in watching individual members—there have been many members over the 10 seasons there's been so far (s10 is still ongoing). There really isn’t any major connections between each season, so really you could pick any season and POV and it would probably be just fine. I myself have only really been watching since season 8, so I don’t know about earlier seasons, but if you wanna start with the current season I have some recommendations! (under the cut because I talk a lot lol, summary at the end)
Season 10 currently has 25 active members (you can find all members’ socials on hermitcraft.com!) and I actively watch nine of them: BdoubleO, Cubfan, GeminiTay, Grian, JoeHills, Mumbo Jumbo, Scar, Joel (Smallishbeans), and TangoTek (but that many can get overwhelming lol! Lots of people just watch 1-2 regularly). Which ones you watch really depends on a lot of things, so I’ve tried to separate them into categories to make it easier:
Some “Hermits” tend to interact with others more often, which can be great if you’re new. For this I’d recommend people like Xisuma (the server’s admin), Skizz (he’s just really social lol), and Grian, specifically Grian’s long video he did earlier this season where most Hermits gave him a tour of their base. Skipping to an individual tour could be helpful if you’re new and want a summary of that Hermit’s experience for the first several months of the season.
Not sure how familiar you are with Minecraft in general, but there are loosely two “genres” of MCYT’ers (at least in Hermitcraft): Redstoners and builders.
For the more technical Hermits (the redstone nerds) I’d suggest Tango and Mumbo, though I know others like Doc, Impulse, and Xisuma are great too
For Hermits that focus more on the building/creative aspects, I’d suggest Bdubs, Scar and Joel (though this one’s hard to recommend a specific person because they all have such unique building styles!)
**Of course it’s not always black and white—a lot of them focus on both (or neither), too. These are just starting points if you have a preference :D**
If you like a lot of frequent uploads on Youtube, I’d suggest Cub and Joe. This season they both have had insanely fast upload schedules for Minecraft Youtubers lol (70-80+ episodes so far!) and I find their videos tend to be a bit chiller and slower-paced because of it. (XbCrafted also seems to upload very frequently, tho I’m not as familiar with his content.) But most of the other Hermits have fewer overall episodes—in the 30–50’s range for most at this point in the season—which is probably much more manageable if you’re just starting out!
Some Hermits do live streams as well! (They stream both Hermitcraft and other games, depending on the streamer) I personally love the “G.I.G.G.S. crew”: Grian (he joins streams, but doesn’t normally livestream his POV), Impulse, Gem, (Goodtimeswith)Scar, and Skizz. They often play games together and it makes for some great longer-form content—their Twitch channels (and other Hermits that stream) can be found on hermitcraft.com and I’ve also linked their VOD channels. That being said, a lot of Hermits stream, I’d totally recommend checking out a bunch of different streams if that’s something that interests ya :D
Overall, my personal favorites to watch are Mumbo and Joel.
Mumbo was the first Hermit I was introduced to—back in 2021 during Season 8—but this season especially he has been one of my favorites. He has such a unique editing style, and this season he’s been incorporating more creative aspects (more building, storytelling, and even drawings!) to his videos, as opposed to mainly redstone like he’s done in the past.
Joel is actually one of the two Hermits that only just joined at the start of this season (the other being Skizz), but I’ve found already that he’s become a common favorite in the community. He’s insanely good at building, makes for lots of fun interactions with other Hermits, and his editing style is just hilarious!
These are just a few starting points for , there’s obviously a lot more than just these few categories—each Hermit is their own unique individual, I’d recommend watching all of their videos if I could but that’s not really possible lol—and things get even more complicated when you factor in the overlap the community has with others, like Empires SMP and the Life Series. Idk, hopefully this helps and isn’t too confusing :’)
Of course, at the end of the day, there’s no right or wrong way to get into the Hermitcraft fandom, just as long as you’re having fun. This is a crazy community of over 13 years, but it’s made a special home in my heart (as you can probably tell lol). So I’ve kinda been getting into Stardew Valley lately and, well. ✨Krobus✨. My new obsession lol
I found out about this little guy and I am now convinced that he’s probably the best video game character ever pretty much. A little adorable shadow that is super polite and sweet and adorable that you can hug and be platonic partners?? HECK YEAH. (And, y’know, he happens to kinda look like my OC. Bonus points, if you ask me.)
