Mikerphone Brewing in Elk Grove Village
Mikerphone is a brewing establishment around the Elk Grove Village area that is inspired by music. The owner of the establishment, Mike Pallen, has a passion in brewing beer and in music. When growing up, Mike’s father was employed at the Miller brewing company in Milwaukee. This is where Mike came to learn about brewing beer. He, however never got to brew a beer until he was in the University of Wisconsin. Together with his friends, they brewed an English Brown recipe and when they received an A for the brewing, Mike became hooked to the brewing process. After he moved to Chicago, his mom sent him a brewing kit and this is how the journey started for Mikerphone Brewing.
As he was starting the brewery, he was also working in the music industry managing and promoting bands. When he was not working in the music scene, he was writing brewing recipes and brewing the recipes and providing samples to whoever wanted to give their honest feedback. Prior to brewing his first Mikerphone beer, there was an opportunity to head the brewing process for BreakRoom Brewery which was a new pub then. It was a lucrative deal but this also meant that Mikerphone would be on hold as he worked at the brewery.
