Always remember to not take your pets for granted. Even if you’re frustrated that your dog has been barking all day or your bird has been screaming for attention, remember you are all they have in this world. Give your fish that extra water change. Give your dog or cat that tummy rub they’ve been begging for. Chop up some fresh fruit as a treat for your rodents or reptiles. Just spend some time with them. Be compassionate to your animals. They are living creatures that are alive simply because you wish them to be. They may only be a small part in your life, but to them, you are their everything.

What was Alberto sick with?

He died from getting his rabies vaccination. Death from rabies vaccines are rare, but there’s always that small percentage that is hit with the bad %. We were in that small group.He was also a senior dog, so it wasn’t as untimely as it could have been had he been younger. On top of his old age, he was also a rescue dog and needed full dental surgery which he was scheduled to go for in winter 2015. (passed away July 4th, 2015) as his previous owners had never allowed him to walk outside of a cage, and had broken his hips from abuse, his teeth and spine. When I got him I had his spine fixed within the week I’d gotten him. The teeth became an issue over this summer, 3 years later. The rescue didn’t inform me of his spine problems, nor that he was an adult dog. He came from a kill-shelter in Arkansas. I used the websites DogsInDanger.com and Petfinder.com to find him in my specific search for a purebread(he was very doughy & his coat was baked bread tones! lol) chihuahua. There were some normal size chihuahuas he was coming up north with and he was the smallest ‘teacup’ one.I am 50/50 on ever doing a rabies vaccine again, as we traveled together he had to have it to be able to cross freely into other countries.
