Sneaking down to the kitchens was probably something the professors would frown upon, but Lily found it a hard habit to break. The elves at Hogwarts had always rewarded such excursions with chocolates of some kind and more food than she could possibly eat in one sitting. They made for great bargaining material too should she need it with one of the older students as well. Mostly, she just liked the quite clamor of the work going on in the kitchen. It reminded her of her grandmother’s kitchen.
“Oi, I wouldn’t look out there if I were you.” Lily replied as she came across a familiar form staring out the window. She didn’t have to be close to notice it was Albus; his stance alone at the window was all she needed. “’Fraid the weather is quite dismal still. Makes for awful quidditch weather.” She told him even though he was quite capable of coming to that conclusion herself. Truth was she wasn’t sure what else they should be talking about so why not the weather? “Chocolate?” She asked offering up her pile. “Not as good as at Hogwarts but not bad either. So where have you been hiding? Haven’t seen much of you lately.”

Albus Severus Potter enjoyed being alone, in fact he enjoyed being alone so much that he often went out of his way to find solitude. At Hogwarts it had been easy, he could just pull out the maurader’s map and find a quiet location within minutes. Silvestris was more of a challenge, without the map- he had to do a lot more searching. But he didn’t mind having to put in the extra time, the silence was definitely worth it.
On that particular day, however, he had given up on his search- settling for one of the popular window seats. The normally spectacular view had been replaced by the dismal overcast of the outside, leaving many of the seats open. He didn’t care about the weather though, in fact he kind of liked it.
When he first heard the voice, Albus made the conscious decision to ignore whoever it was as he turned the page in his book. He wasn’t in the mood to talk, not that he ever felt like talking. And surely whoever it was would realize that sooner or later. Or so he thought. When it became clear that they weren’t going to leave him alone, Albus closed his book- allowing a small sigh to escape from his lips as he lifted his head to stare at his sister. “Sure,” he responded with a nod as he reached out to take the chocolate, a small smile appearing on his face.
“Now why would I want to reveal my hiding places? They’re called hiding places for a reason,” he said with a laugh as he looked up at his sister, “I’ve been busy with my school work,” he offered as a further explanation as to his whereabouts the past couple of weeks.
