my proposal to (re-)name the pwhl teams after whimsical birds:
vancouver goldeneyes (ducks are very whimsical, they can stay)
seattle seagulls (credit goes to @easyaro)
boston puffins
montreal motmots
ottawa loons
toronto toucans
new york bee-eaters
minnesota woodpeckers
san jose flamingoes
las vegas lories
detroit tinamous
hamilton hornbills
honorable mentions (maybe future teams?):
pheasants
grouse
chickadees
quails
somehow both very little and a lot of thought went into this. In terms of associating teams with birds i mostly went by sound and vibe, but to be fair i know almost nothing about the birds i picked or the team locations, i am but a bored european
If you have suggestions of whimsy bird team names of your own please feel free to share!!
I think I said this last year but while I'm sad the Charge lost, im still so proud they got this far! That's my team and I'll keep rooting for them! even when they lose. Can't wait to see what crazy shenanigans the next year brings! ❤️💛
i'm actually scared that the victoire are gonna pick the frost instead of the charge, don't know if i would survive the first playoff round if it was fleet vs. charge
My contribution to the RQG A to Z Zine. I loved working on this so much, the fandom is incredibly talented and still going strong, even years after the show ended. Dunno where I'd be without them and this show.
You can find the whole thing on tumblr (see my last reblogged post) or on Ao3. Go look at everyones amazing work!!
Enough sappiness, now onto the map!
The original plan was to actually put the drawings on a world map but I couldn't find one that was big enough to position all the drawings without overlap or incredible distance from the actual city. So instead I put them down at the approximate locations.
I have learned this route is almost 48k kilometers. Thats more than the earth's circumference!
It would take two weeks to drive if you drove all day every day. Thank god (or well, Einstein) for the teleporting.
Full Image ID below the cut.
The first picture is a photo of a schematic map of the campaign locations. A blue line signifies the route, locations are approximate to a world map. Different imagines represent each location and what took place there.
Writing in the image is often down in the local language (Czech, Japanese, etc.). All translations were done with DeepL Translator, I apologise for mistakes.
London: Collection of clues from Tesla's notebook (London Prologue), eel bun & eel quiche (Other London), clock tower covered in plants (Endgame)
Dover - Outline of protestors and the words "Sit. Down."
Calais - Drawing split in two, one side is the view from a boat showing a lighting strike and a metal tentacle; the other is a tunnel entrance that is filled with the word "Doom" (with an excessive number of O's)
Paris - A collection of human organs (heart, stomach, lungs, kidneys, intestines and liver)
Airship to Prague - A signet ring with the card symbol for spades
Prague - An opera ticket for "Don Giovanni"
Cairo - The heart of Aphrodite, a heart shaped ruby in a clam
Damaskus - Text in a variety of colour which reads "Wilde's fine". Smaller below, "Stop asking"
Rome- A broken amphore (Modern Rome) and the end of a letter (Ancient Rome). The letter reads "Light a candle for Grizzop for me. Thanks mates - Whosaskingus "Sasha" LOLOMG"
The route goes back to Cairo though there is no second drawing and then continues.
Okinoshima - The inside of a cell, a deck of cards on the floor as well as a stack of colourful book which all have "H. Campbell" on the spine
Below, unconnected by the line is the Shoin Institute - a red banner which reads "Welcome Intruders" in Japanese.
The route continues to Hiroshima - A spilling bag of marbles
The next drawings have no corresponding location but are placed along the route from Hiroshima to London.
Earharts Captain hat with a flamingo in place of the feather (Airship), a chess board (The Bear/The Ursans), the flower bulbs (Garden of Yerlik) and some plane shards, on filled with fire, the other with gears and clockwork (Interplanar space).
The route connects back to London and then travels up to Svalbard - An entryway to a greenhouse with writing that is meant to represent dwarven runes.
The second is a close-up of the drawings for London, Dover, Calais and Svalbard.
Number three is a close-up of Paris, the Airship, Prague, Cairo, Rome and Damaskus.
Four is a close-up of the Japan locations.
The last picture is a close-up of the Bear, the Garden of Yerlik, the interplanar space and Svalbard again.
