If only I could say the same.
[He touches a hand to his chest] Oh, how you wound me.
grishildr:
[ It seemed a much better idea than to dwell here; lingering in one place when there were errands to do kept her mind abuzz as she considered exactly what kind of clothing was deemed appropriate for such a realm—and in the hopes that she would not let others get carried away with her ignorance on the matter. The names were foreign to her as she gazed up at the signs and saw how their clothing was on display behind glass vitrines, posed in various fashions that befitted the weather and styles currently sought after. ] There is a lot to choose from… [ Hesitance marred her fair complexion as she regarded the types of coats and jackets available, as with the sweaters and blouses and pants that resembled breeches with riding boots—a style not too far from what she was accustomed to back home, but it still had its differences. ]
—Perhaps this one? [ She saw that there were various leather jackets and coats on display and considered that there could be something of interest in there for her. If anything, she did not mind spending another day in these clothes as long as a bath was available to her when she returned back to the inn. Much to her delight, the interior of the shop offered what she was looking for and felt a wave of relief wash over her as she inspected the clothing upon racks and stands. ]
[ The owner seemed to be quite pleased that a woman who dressed in the fashion he marketed his clothes for entered the shop and did not hesitate to step out from behind the counter and offer his assistance. ] If there is anything you need—do not hesitate to ask! [ Rather enthusiastic, Zelda merely nodded her head before browsing around. There were leather and wool breeches, some made out of cotton, accompanied by blouses and vests made of wool and other furs she did not recognise. She had picked her choices and asked to try them on, in which the owner was more than happy to oblige as he sidestepped Loki to help her with the selected items. ]
I should not be too long, [ She said when looking over her shoulder at Loki as she disappeared behind the door and locked it before changing. The pants were a snug fit and comfortable as she buttoned up the blouse and slipped on the boots, stepping out to admire her reflection as she decided to purchase this set and changed back into her dress and cloak. With the items paid for (and with some help from the owner as he told her how much to give), Zelda had purchased her first of clothes in a foreign realm and felt rather pleased with herself. ]
Perhaps I could enlist your aid in what most Midgardian women wear…? Unless it is appropriate for me to appear as though I am dressed for a hunt?
[Loki nodded as she glanced at the shop and asked if they could try that one, following her inside the building. Once there, he clasped his hands behind his back and stood beside her whilst she went about browsing for something to wear. He held no interest in shopping, simply choosing instead to use his magic to form the clothes that he wore, but he could tolerate it for a short time if it meant the potential opportunity to learn more of the realm she came from.]
Take as long as you might need. [He responded simply, waiting near the counter for her. If she decided to purchase the items of clothing, then she would join him momentarily. With his hands still clasped behind his back, he looked around the shop boredly, eyeing the various styles of clothing. It was in no way similar to what they wore back on Asgard, but not a lot was here on Midgard.]
I cannot say that I am an expert. [He replied, guiding her back out of the shop and onto the street before he cast his glance up the street for a moment.] Perhaps we could ask someone in the next shop. But, if you look around, it would seem that many women here on Midgard do indeed wear such clothing. Dresses appear to be more for the warmer seasons or special occasions, from what I have seen.
eight-legged-attitude:
"They may have the intention being watchful; we do tend to disagree on my activities. Thankfully I’m never their first priority," he remarked with a touch of sourness. "Well enough, for the time being. And yourself?"
"I suppose that is good for you, at least." He commented, canting his head. "I am well, in a sense. I cannot say that they have become any less irritating, now that I am living amongst the mortal."
punkasssoldier:
Wow, no love for the less fortunate from you huh? What if I say please?
Then it would simply seem as though you are begging, and this conversation would only become amusing.
belli-dea:
No, it does not … however it changes little in how I feel. Well I suppose that is it then. [She sighs, a faint smile tugging at her lips] Honestly, I know not why I desired to entertain such a notion.
Nor I, dear Sif. It seemed strange from the very beginning. [He lifts a brow, eyes flicking across her features] T'was rather deluded of you, but I am pleased we are passed this idea.
grishildr:
[ It was not a hard decision to make—wanting to leave, she murmured her gratitude to the passing innkeeper before grabbing her cloak and walking out the door. The daylight hours made this place seem so different than where she first saw it. ] —Everything appears so harsh, [ she whispered, her eyes adjusting to the natural light, a hand raised to shield her eyes as she regarded the packed landscape. Perhaps now, more than ever, she longed for the rolling, verdant hills and the azure skies and for the air that did not burn her throat or nose when she inhaled…]
I am not that hungry. [ Watching someone stuff their face with food was not an unfamiliar sight but it just seemed so…unappealing to see it in such a fashion. Had she not known any better, the matriarch would have thought he was cannibalising someone from the way he tore into the steak and how his comrades cheered him off as if the whole thing were some spectacle. ]
[ But it was a lie; she was still famished but wished to put as much distance from here and herself as possible as she began to walk down the street and saw the park where she had encountered Loki last night. ] Perhaps searching for new attire seems to be the best option now. If anything, and I hope, that these Midgardians will have a market where I can find fresh produce.
[Loki stood from the table and slid his coat onto his shoulders as he fell into step with her, an amused smirk lifting the edges of his mouth. Undoubtedly, she'd seen someone eating like that before, but the fact that she was disgusted by the mortal entertained him to no end. For the simple fact that, in general, they disgusted him as well.]
Very well, we shall eat later. [He nodded, offering her a brief smile before he glanced up at the tall buildings, eyes darting across the skyline for a moment. They were rather dull looking, all the Midgardian buildings. He was surprised that they built so many of them when they clearly looked awful.]
They have many of such markets. I have no doubt that they will be easy enough to locate when we need to. [He gestured for her to join him as he crossed the street, eyes darting across the names of the stores that lined the street.] Shall we go and find you some different attire, then? There are many clothing stores along this street, it seems.
punkasssoldier:
Shit. Aw c’mon, not even a penny?
No. I'm not giving you anything.
grishildr:
[ It was as if she could not believe him, yet why would he lie? She was well versed in the workings of magic—knew the extent of her powers and how far she could go without exhausting herself, even to the point of changing her appearance entirely so that she could not be traced. ] An illusion to them, hm? I can see how it would be useful. [ She spoke as if the trick itself was something she had never heard of, but internally wished she had thought of it sooner. The last thing she wanted was for one of them to confront her for being vastly too different from the rest. ]
I would like to try it— [ In her case, it meant changing her entire appearance but just for now, the matriarch would have been content in making some features less noticeable. When their food came, she was all too eager to start eating but remembered etiquette and manners, though when she spied at the other patrons, some were rather garish in their mannerisms that she looked away with a dissatisfied sneer. ] —Are they usually this… [ There was no word that came to mind that she could used to describe what she was seeing… ]
—I have lost my appetite. [ A shame, for she was rather hungry but wished not to remain here. ]
Indeed. T'is far easier than simply attempting to hide. [He lifted his shoulders in a brief shrug, before lifting a brow slightly as he watched her peering around her with an unhidden look of disgust at the other patrons. It was entertaining to him, how she was so polite and yet she could not hide the sneer from her features when she saw how some of the people were eating. Perhaps they had more than just magic in common.]
Not all. But most, it would seem. [He replied to her unfinished question, casting a disinterested glance in the direction of a man eating steak as though it was going to be his last meal.]
I cannot blame you for doing so, Zelda. [He mused thoughtfully, almost allowing himself a chuckle before he simply lifted a brow.] Would you like to leave, and try your hand at eating elsewhere after we have begun the process of finding you suitable attire?
madespectre
... Now, you are a creature I have not seen before. Where do you hail from?
theladynamedsif
Ah, Sif. What a pleasure.
remainedunavenged:
Can’t a guy just walk around without getting questioned?
Not when you approach someone, no. Had you walked by me, I would not have questioned what you wanted.
nolongerapawn:
Absolutely not. My family were Nomadic. We moved far too much for me to be from anywhere.
Ah, I see. Then where would you call your home, exactly?
remainedunavenged
[He sighs as he's approached once again, looking over at the man]
Yes?
Yes? Do you require something?
grishildr:
[ Gratitude flitted onto her countenance as they took a seat and waited to be served. Zelda was so hungry that she could feel her mouth salivating at the smells coming from the kitchens and only imagined what dishes would be prepared once they had placed their order. And to know that their schedule would be slack gave her peace of mind that, while she was far from home, a little respite and enjoyment could not hurt. ] —It was different. [ She was being honest, having not taken too kindly to her predicament but held no ill-will against those whom had accommodated her so generously. ]
I suppose it will need getting used to. [ It was then that she wondered about his own domicile; he was different from the peoples here—his aura solidified that, and it went without question whether or not he took residence at an inn or even had his own domain to which he had called his own. ] Once I have changed garments, I will feel more at ease and blend in. [ Stares were being shot their way as she could feel them, even those who were seated behind her. ]
I suspect it is the ears that draws their gaze…
[ A waitress presented herself and Zelda was quick to order what she knew, or thought to be, eggs and toast with a bowl of fruit—it felt strange to order something when she was so accustomed to merely walking into the dinning hall and having her meal ready right when she sat down. ]
I can imagine. [He commented, pursuing the menu before him absently. After a few moments, he looked up at her again, his eyes flicking to her ear for a moment.] Hm. I can help you with that for now, if you would like.
[He set the menu down, deciding to simply order what she ordered. He wasn't particularly interested in eating a lot, and so he wasn't bothered whatever it was he chose.] For example, you are seeing my true form, and yet everyone else in this room is seeing my Midgardian disguise. T'is a useful magic trick, if you would like to learn it.
[He ordered the same as her and handed the menu back to the waitress, settling back in his chair as his eyes flickered about the room briefly. He looked back at her after a moment, offering a smile]
If not, then a simply hat or perhaps a different style of hair for a short time would benefit you, as well as some new clothes.
grishildr:
[ Nine o’clock on the dot found herself waiting in the lobby of the tavern—and no sooner had she gotten down the stairs, the matriarch found Loki waiting for her. Immediately, she walked towards him as the innkeeper began her morning routine while patrons made their way to the tables for the morning meal. ] —Would you like to eat first before leaving? [ Having not eaten anything yesterday, she was rather famished and the smell of eggs, toast and fresh fruit tempted her to sit down at the nearest table with a plate laden with all she could eat. ]
Or do the Midgarians run on a tight schedule where we must get our errands done before dusk? [ Back home, when dusk fell, most shops closed for the night and it was only the taverns that remained opened—such a rule had been placed in effect before the siege of the Twili and remained after their disappeared from the realm. It was a means to keep the people safe from harm as those whom had been touched by dark magic were not the only ones who sought flesh. ]
[He had had no intention of eating, but he supposed she would likely be hungry, given that she arrived here without warning. Inclining his head, Loki gestured for her to lead the way to a table] We do not have a tight schedule, no. The shops here stay open for most hours of the day, some even all.
[Once they reached a table, Loki took a seat and glanced around them at the other mortals in the room, lifting a brow slightly. It would seem this was an inn that attracted many different kinds of people.] How was your stay here? [He questioned after a moment, picking up the menu that was laid out where he had taken a seat. He wasn't entirely certain what he would have any desire to eat, but he could at least take a look, he supposed.]
punkasssoldier:
Hey buddy, do you happen to know what time it is? or uh.. at least have come change I could bum off ya?
[Without bothering to hide his irritated expression, Loki pulled a pocket watch from his pocket and examined it a moment]
Twelve thirty. And no, I am not giving you money.
