there is a difference between fashion as a lifestyle and fashion as making history
[>] I feel that as an icon people should understand that the learner is constantly relearning due to the social events tied to articles of clothing and how such essences are captured, retained and utilised is where fashion and it's industry should be focused on, it really stems from this notion where Gen Alpha, specifically has grown out from and reintegrated itself back into their parents, well the winners anyways have been for the last twenty or odd years, participated and have even developed an economy based on the phenomenon of nostalgia.
The irony of this unearthing is a happenstance worth observing through design for how can we, the fashion expressive live in nostalgia when the industry was designed to be everything but. Take for example the constant trend of "sustainability" sold as well, sustainability. This was never fashionable nor will it ever will be, fashion at it's heights has always stated this. Fashion is not sustainable or even focused on green it is focused on society and earning the approval of it's desired target. The target audience has then situationally controlled the narrative and this fact is render by the structure of pattern and imprint fostered on and through social media.
Everything Gen Alpha was about presence in non-space or sub-space, the unreality. It is funny but in a dry laugh, silent criticismatic kind of of way. The liminal of design though then becomes the ether, the heavenly and thus because of it's otherworldly construction it becomes the the thing that drives the ego or false conscious turning the average person into the astounded ego. This isn't your grandma sewing pattern, at your local diner stand, bought and promoted for mere aesthetics. This is our current climate. That. The social conformity of Grandmas recipes being not only appreciated but too fashioned into monument is the grand departure of trend into timeless consumer demand.
