Look at Senator Grayson, with an open slot. And just for me? Good for him. I like pizza, but I guess breadsticks and pasta will do.Â
We can do pizza too. I'll make a reservation at Giorgio's for 1:00PM. Does that work for you?
A Day in the Dog Park || Charlotte & Alex
"It’s lovely to meet you as well, Alex. I’m Charlotte." A silence fell over them for a moment and Charlotte followed his gaze, looking out at the handful of dogs playing in the distance. It only took her a few moments to notice that one dog in particular was no longer in sight.
Her immediate thought was imploring herself not to panic, which naturally sent a jolt of adrenaline shooting through her core. At least she remained composed on the outside, slowly and almost casually doing a more thorough scan of the area. That was when she saw that someone had left the gate to the enclosure ajar. Moss was nothing if not an escape artist.
"Shit…" Her voice was the first part of her that decided to function; the instinct to run blindly in some random direction looking for her dog was still as frozen as the rest of her.
"I--Charlotte--your dog..." he sputtered incoherently as he pointed towards the remaining dogs. He craned his neck to try and see beyond and around the park in its entirety, but he couldn't spot any wagging tails. When he returned his gaze to the blonde woman, he was surprised to see Charlotte keeping her panic at bay. He cleared his throat to regain his own composure; he worked best under pressure after all.
"No,no. No shit. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. He couldn't have gotten very far. We'll look for him on foot first, sound okay?" he asked with a sympathetic tone. He wasn't sure what he'd do next, but he'd think about it while he searched. He really hoped the dog wasn't feeling particularly energetic today.

Is this for serious or are you just a troll?
Yes to the serious and no to the troll. He has a 30-45min slot tomorrow afternoon. He's offering to buy you lunch. Do you prefer soup and sandwiches or breadsticks and pasta? - Alex

Leftover Fireworks // Madelyn + Alex
"People and their bloody fireworks.. College kids left a bunch by the shop doors.. Shall we pop them off?"
"Ah no, I think I've seen plenty this new year. At least, you'll have enough for 4th of July celebrations...?" Alex attempted to give her a friendly smile despite the lack of caffeine running through his veins so early in the morning.
A Day in the Dog Park || Charlotte & Alex
Charlotte nodded and listened, simultaneously wishing that she hadn’t asked the question. Now she felt obligated to give him suggestions based on his qualifications, but literally had none. Some help she was turning out to be. The temptation to pretend she knew what she was talking about was there, but she was such a horrible liar people could smell deceit on her from a mile away. “I… don’t now much about it myself to be honest. When I adopted Moss I had no idea what breed he was at all. Probably not the wisest course of action now that I think about it.” She added with a self-deprecating sort of smile.
He breathed a sigh of relief again at her response. "No, no. That's okay. I don't think it's something that's required to be hired or something. If it is, then I guess I'm screwed." He smiled sympathetically. "I'm Alex, nice to meet you," he finally introduced himself.
Alex glanced around the park to take another look at the playful dogs. He thought maybe he may need to up the dose on his contacts, since he was having a hard time spotting the stranger's small dog. He found himself frowning as he willed his eyes to spot the furry creature.
A Day in the Dog Park || Charlotte & Alex
"That makes sense," she said in reassurance, noting that he seemed to be a little embarrassed. People at dog parks were generally very friendly, and coming to see what owning a dog was like first-hand sounded logical to her. "Do you have any idea of what breed you may be interested in?" She didn’t really know much about dogs, but may be of some help.
Alex let out a breath of relief when he heard her reassuring words. The stranger was thankfully friendly and nice. As he realized this, he began to relax a little, his tight smile relaxing into a more genuine one. He was caught off guard by her question though, since he knew very little about dog breeds. "I'm not really sure about breeds yet. I don't think I'd even mind a mutt..." he explained honestly. "but it'd probably have to be about medium sized and shed very little." The amount of dog fur some pet owners seemed to don on their clothing made Alex want to gag sometimes, so dogs like golden retrievers and german shepherds were a definite no.
Spoonful of Sugar || Satan & Devil's Mistress
In all honesty, Lex was still stunned that Alex had called her for help. The fact that he needed help at all was surprising, but she was willing to help out. After all, Alex was decent and she’d definitely consider him a friend. It was a lot more than she could say about a lot of the people she worked with. That was either a very good thing or a very bad thing. She wasn’t really sure which. While she ran the errands, Lex kept texting Alex. Being miserable was definitely not a fun thing so she hoped that what she was bringing would be able to offer him some relief. She went as quickly as she could, but the line at Panera was insanely long. Unfortunately that was the side effect of it being winter now.
When she got the next text from him she rolled her eyes and quickly texted back that she’d been there in five. True to her word, Lex pulled up in front of Alex’s place about five minutes later. She got out of the car with a bag from Walgreens containing the medicine he’d requested as well as a few cans of soup he could make himself later if he still needed it. In the other hand she had the brown paper bag from Panera Bread with a bowl of the hot and ready soup for him. He was really lucky to have her, and Lex would be sorely disappointed if he didn’t realize that.Â
Once she reached the door, Lex balanced the two bags and rang the doorbell. Hopefully Alex hadn’t passed out on her, but she definitely wouldn’t have put it past him. That was especially true if he was as sick as he was claiming that he was. Granted, the fact that he wasn’t at work should have been enough of a clue that he was miserable. Alex was not the kind to miss work. He definitely wasn’t like her, and that was a good thing. Knocking, Lex sighed. “Come’on, Alex,” she whined. “Your soup’s here.”
Momentarily, Alex dozed off, and he thought the knock at his door was a part of his dream, when he heard Lex's voice through the door. Before he could reply however, he let out a wheeze of a cough. "Coming!" he replied as loudly as he could manage. He shuffled pitifully with this duvet draped around his shoulders towards the door. He pulled the edges of his duvet up, not so gracefully to prevent them from getting dirty, as he neared the door and unbolted the locks. He sniffled and groaned at the pressure that was still building behind his eyeballs.
He finally opened the door and greeted Lex weakly, "Hey... thanks for coming." He was surprised by how much she was holding, and his eyes became fixated on the paper bag in her hand. He used his free hand to take the glorious Panera bag from Lex's hands. "Holy shit, I never thought I'd be this happy to see soup. C'mon in." He didn't bother to waste his energy on smiling or refraining from using profanities.
Alex continued to the kitchen and nearly ripped the bag open to reveal its contents of hot soup and some warm bread. "I was thinking that I'd buy coffee for you for the rest of your life, but I may have to do more than that considering you brought me actual food." He quickly sat down to consume his much needed lunch. He knew he was being a poor host, but food came first, especially when he felt like crap. "Feel free to stick around. There's not much to see but my books," he stated as he wiped his mouth with the napkin. "Oh yeah and you can put the stuff on the counter near the microwave."
A Day in the Dog Park || Charlotte & Alex
Charlotte looked to his bike when he pointed and then back at him with a bemused smile. “No, I don’t believe that counts… What brings you to the dog park if you don’t have a dog?” It was a little strange, but maybe he just really liked animals. Or this was his way of picking up women. Either seemed equally likely.
Alex fought the blush that crept up his neck. He felt like a complete weirdo, now that she asked him that question. Why couldn't he be a normal person and go down to a local animal shelter or dog-sit one of his co-worker's dogs? God he didn't think this through. "Just wanted to see and maybe hear what it was like to have a dog..." He completely bullshitted his answer, but it ended up sounding pretty close to what he was actually doing. It also sounded pretty rational. He continued, "I've been trying to decide if I wanted to adopt one or not actually..."
Spoonful of Sugar || Satan & Devil's Mistress
Alex hauled himself off his bed, immediately regretting his decision once the headache went from a dull ache to an obnoxious throb once he was upright. His nose was completely stuffed with mucus, and his sinuses were nonexistent. A hot cup of tea or a hot shower did nothing to help relieve some of the pressure. He wrapped his duvet cover around his shoulders, not caring for once that it was dragging across the carpet as he made his way to the living room couch. He continued to text Lex back as he trudged through his home. He'd wait in the living room until she rang the doorbell and showed up with his goodies of meds and soup.
He groaned as he felt the body aches creeping back into his muscles, The medicine he took a few hours ago was starting to wear off. He felt like a helpless infant, and it didn't help that the Senator had insisted that he take a few days off to recover. It was a wound to his  professional pride, that would take more than a few late nights at the office to recover. "Please go away now, please," he begged the little unwanted passengers of his body.
The small trip to another part of his apartment had drained him, and Alex now found himself nodding off with his feet propped up on the coffee table. He attempted to sit up, but he was slumped against the back of his seat within a few drowsy blinks. He honestly just wanted to curl up on the floor and just hibernate. No, he had to wait to eat something, takes his meds, and then pass out on his bed. He would also probably buy Lex coffee for the rest of her life, since she was ironically his savior today. His next text to her said, "You almost here?"
