Hey guys, Alex Whitman here. Sorry for the weird online behavior, my parents took my phone and locked me in a government facility. But now I'm back, and I think I've accepted my lycanthropy! Oh, by the way, I'll be sharing this account with my friend, Siffrin, a fellow escapee of the facility. In any case, it's great to be back!
[A room, devoid of any or light, minus the glow of the static of a CRT, as well as seven electric candles (Alex was NOT about to start a house fire).]
[A circle of salt and protective herbs surrounds the CRT, the electric candles creating a circle around the CRT inside the circle of protection. Alex stood outside the circles, clutching the pointer stick his great-grandfather had once used as a murder weapon with one pair of hands, holding a pen and notepad in the other. He holds the pointer stick to the sky and glances down at the notepad, reading the incantation he'd created aloud.]
"O, Azrael, Angel of Death, I call upon you. Thin the veil between life and death once more, and deliver the one I seek back home, if only for one night. I call upon you to bring me Vincent Whittman. Wake his spirit from his rest, and place his soul in this vessel, so he can see what he has missed during his slumber."
'Let's hope this works...'
[And with that, Alex touches the lightning-bolt shaped tip of the pointer to the CRT's screen, waiting for something to happen.]
"I mean, you did have a family when you were alive. Of course you have great-grandkids. Did you think your family just stopped existing the moment you died, or something?"
"But, yeah, it's amazing to meet you, too! Especially since this is the first time I've ever made contact with the dead, much less someone who resides in a different afterlife realm. Hell, even my great-uncle Ford hadn't summoned anyone in Heaven or Hell before this moment, this is ground-breaking!"
[Throughout his rambling, Alex has started scribbling notes about how the summoning worked on his notepad, carefully twirling the pointer around while doing so.]
"Well, I'm not sure about any other family members, but there's me and my little siblings, Jackson and Maya. They're twelve years old. My dad—your grandson—he and my mom died back at the beginning of the year. Again, not sure about grandpa, but you do have living relatives. Congratulations!"
"The CRT was the only TV I had lying around. And seeing as you ran some sort of televised entertainment cult—and if I'm reading the situation correctly, murdered a lot of people to get there—I thought it'd be poetic to use a TV as a vessel. Plus, I can actually see you, with the screen and all. Can't get that by using bluetooth speakers or stereos and such."
[Alex gestures towards the pointer.]
"Oh, this? Yeah, this is that pointer. Jackson absolutely loves it. Kind of freaked out when he learned you were a weatherman at one point—in a good way. He's really into meteorology. But, uh, he doesn't know about the other stuff yet, so uh. Yeah."
that is WONDERFUL to hear! i did miss having a family. well i sort of have one down here. if a mothman partn— business partner, a doll fashion label owner, and a giant robot shark counts as family.
hahah! i guess that does make sense. … i would prefer calling it a movement of sorts instead of a cult … haha..
oh? glad to hear it! i. uh. may or may not have used that to kill a few people. so maybe make sure there’s no dried blood on it before letting him keep it. hahahah. it would. probably be best if he never learns about the … other stuff.
"Why'd you hesitate on the word 'partner'? Also, yeah, that definitely counts as a family. If you all take care of each other and enjoy each other's company, I'd say it counts."
"Well, considering people were calling you a god, I'd say it was a more cult-like movement, but to each their own."
[Alex pops the lightning bolt off the pointer and examines the tip.]
"Yeah, there's no blood on it. And don't worry, I won't tell Jackson about the murder. I mean, he's twelve right now, so I'm definitely not telling him, but in the future, he could look into things himself, and, well, I can't exactly stop him in that case."
[Alex is quiet for a few moments, before continuing.]
"You know, you've been dead for quite some time now—like, half a century, at least. Lots of things have happened since then. You'd be surprised at the amount of investigation true crime enthusiasts put into investigating old murder cases, and apparently, it's become a pretty well-accepted theory among the true crime community that you were the one behind all of those murders. A person mysteriously dies, you take their place, rinse and repeat. It wasn't exactly subtle, to be frank. Also, fun fact, actually: gay marriage is legal now. I just felt like you needed to hear that."
"Ah, 'usually enjoy their company'. The most familial phrase to ever exist."
"Yeah, it's a wonder what people can do when they're curious about something. Oh, by the way, what is Hell like? I bet it's leagues better that my first place of employment, haha!"
hahaha! it’s not too bad down here. once you get used to it. or gather enough power. … a lot of living people keep finding their way down here. so there MUST be some way to go between the two realms. i have been thinking of trying to find that
yeah. probably should. it was great to meet you, Alex
oh, by the way, I go by Vox now. i don’t really care which you use to refer to me as
"Well then, I'll try to find a way to get down there so I can finally meet you face-to-face!"
"Alright, great-grandpa Vox. Sorry for pretty much deadnaming you—or would it be alive-naming? I'm sorry for not asking for the name you go by now, in any case. Glad you're okay with me using it, though... Now, to send you back!"
[Alex flips to another page in his notepad, before raising the pointer towards the sky again, and reading the words aloud.]
"O Azrael, Angel of Death, I call upon you. Thin the line between life and death once more, and lull Vincent Whittman back into eternal sleep. Release his spirit from this vessel, and deliver him back to his resting place once more."
[Alex then lowers the pointer and touches the lightning-shaped tip to the CRT screen once again, right in between Vox's eyes.]

okay sorta surprised you guessed that quickly. yeah, it’s Shadow Milk Cookie.
he’s also met your great-grandfather a couple of times.
Well, Shadow Milk does remind me of the typical Bill variant. And Hench seems to have a type.
Wait, really? I mean, Hench DID mention going to Hell, but I wasn't sure what exactly he did there, nor who he met. Other than a moth man, of course. I think it's the same moth man that I'm PRETTY sure my great-grandpa's into? Unless there's more moth men in Hell. I don't know, I've never been to Hell.

[There's a bit of a wait, the text bubbles popping up and disappearing a couple times before Alex responds.]
AWC: I need to find a way to either communicate with or summon dead ancestors. I thought you'd be able to tell me how, since you've been researching the paranormal for quite some time.
Hench: "Oh, there are plenty of ways! I wish I would have focused a bit more on the afterlife in my journals but oh well there's no time like the present I suppose.. Ouija boards are surprisingly effective at allowing one to communicate with the dead. Many people will manipulate the board to get the answers they wish to receive and this will annoy most ghosts into ignoring them completely."
Hench: "There are also pendulums! And spirit mediums- if it's just the body you want i know how to turn one into a zombie."
Hench: "I only found definitive proof of the afterlife recently. I met a moth man.. don't speak to him, I don't think you should get mixed in with him, and a few others. So, to be completely honest I'm unsure if they can communicate beyond the mortal realm. All the tests I did with Ouija boards were conducted with ghosts"
Hench: "Now, we could also attempt to summon someone from the afterlife like a demon. I doubt I could ask any of the sinners I've met for information on summoning considering the fact they're still stuck in hell"
