Alexander’s eyes softened as the words slipped from her mouth. He pulled her close to his body, placing a kiss on the top of her head. “I feel the same way,” he murmured into her hair. “I’m glad you do as well.” He held her close, and began to hum in the back of his throat- when he was young, he had heard Dean sing the song to the girl, but only after she had fallen asleep. His mother told him it was called Hey Jude when he sang it for her. His fingers trailed down Evelyn’s arms, and he hoped she would soon be asleep.
” That’s… That’s what my father used to sing to me every night, when he thought I was sleeping… ” Eve whispered, her eyes closed. She was trying to fully appreciate the moment, but something was on her mind; this was probably the last time she’d see Alexander. A tear slowly slid down Eve’s cheek, her hand quickly wiping it.
Alex's eyes softened as he saw the tear leave her eye. He held her closer to him. "Go to sleep," he breathed in her ear. "I'll be here when you awake. I promise." He moved his fingers up and down her arm and through her hair once more, trying to lull her into as peaceful of a sleep as possible.
