"I have had many lives." Castiel sounded almost bitter, if even for a moment. "You have only one. I would rather die than you." He stared at him. "There is a safe house Dean once told me about. It is just outside of the Ochoco National Forest in Oregon. We should go there. They have resources there that could prove useful." His wings spread as he took off. He flew the whole way, taking in the scenery of the grassy knolls and looming trees. He was at the safe house in, to a human, was an instant, but to a Seraph like him, he had taken a longer time. He wanted to enjoy this Earth for as long as he was able. He had lived a long time. Maybe my time is over. He thought when he landed inside the kitchen of the tiny one bedroom cabin.
Before Alexander could respond, his father was gone, flying, and he was following him as quickly as he could. When they finally landed, Alex felt fury rising within him. “What the hell do you mean!?” he demanded. “It’s like you want to die! Well, guess what? You can’t, okay? You just- you can’t. I’ve lost a lot. But I don’t want to lose you. You’re- you’re my father, and if I can keep you, I will. So let’s watch out for each other. All right?”
Castiel was filled with sadness. He looked at Alexander, for the first time he truly looked at him, and his heart was pained. When he spoke, the sadness was palpable. "It's not like that. I don't want to die. Nobody wants to die, Alexander." His voice shook for a moment. "But- but I can't lose you. I can't be the cause of your death. That would be worse than anything the enemy could do to me." He looked down. Cas couldn't let Alex see his sadness. Angels, Saraph like him, shouldn't cry. He didn't even know it was possible for them to cry, but the tears were still there. Maybe it was Jimmy crying for him. He thought Jimmy was gone long ago, but that was the only way Castiel could explain the tears in his eyes.Â
"Hmm.." Castiel became thoughtful again. He wondered what it was like to be free. Heaven was in chaos again, and he couldn’t just leave his brothers like she had though. He felt a sense of duty to them. He had led them, after all, on this path all those years ago. Twenty…
Xapham stood and watched a woman with a crying child for a moment or two before answering. “Whiskey and wine at home, unless you wanted something more specific.” She was the one to look curious this time. It wasn’t as if she hadn’t heard of Castiel. It was an impossible to be an angel and not hear about him. The Angel of the Lord and God, this poor angel had been everything it seemed. “There’s a bar near here, but I figured you didn’t want to be so public.” She murmured as she let her lips run up and down him. “We can watch Twin Peaks and get drunk.” This wasn’t the exact way she had expected to meet back up with angels. But she didn’t really mind. It was better than meeting up with one of the more uptight angels
"Whiskey is great," Castiel looked at her a puzzled look furrowed his brow. "What is Twin Peaks?" He was never one to watch tv, and references often evaded him. Dean used to tease him for it, but over time it became a sort of game for the Winchesters. See which reference he would actually understand. Most went over his head, no matter how tall his true form was, but some he had actually heard of. It wasn’t that he didn’t like the humans acting, but it seemed like no matter how long he lived, there was never enough time to watch the shows and protect the Earth. He smiled at Xapham. She seemed nice enough, which is more than he could say for most of his kind.Â
Xapham smiled at that but she could understand. Television had taken a while for her to actually enjoy, but after a while it seemed like a normal thing to do. "It's an old show, it's very odd though. It's fun to watch when you get drunk." She chuckled a little as she spoke. After a while of not speaking to angels, it was strange to explain things that seemed normal. But she didn't mind with Castiel, he seemed nice enough. "My home is this way." She pointed her finger in the opposite direction. "Let's be on our way then." The angel began to walk with a sigh. "So, what has Castiel been doing? I haven't heard as much from the angel radio."
"Trying to stop the death of all angels," Castiel spoke his voice and facial features turning stern. He hated how they fought constantly. He wished he could walk away from it all, but his conscience wouldn't let him. Maybe just for a day. He looked at Xapham, "I no longer use Angel Radio. It is much to dangerous. The lines of this war are so unclear. It is hard to tell who is an ally anymore." He looked down and sighed. "I just want the fighting to end. Humans and angels alike have shed too much of their own blood." He looked straight ahead. He couldn't make eye contact. He didn't want to show emotion. Yes, he had them thanks to the Winchesters, but he didn't like to show it. He felt weak when he showed emotion.

"Interesting." Castiel said as he momentarily drifted off into thought. Cats. Such notoriously stuck-up creatures. Why would she choose one of them? There temperament is less than desired, but then again, most shifters were dogs or bigger animals. Maybe cats was a safer...
Xapham stood in silence as the other angel sat staring with a certain intensity. She fixed her rings as she waited on him to speak once again. Had she done this to her human companions? My poor husbands…She didn't realize he had finally stopped staring until after he spoke. “I just live different lifestyles.” She explained with a small shrug of her shoulders. “At the moment I’m just single with an apartment.” It had been a long time since she had done anything exactly angelic. The angel had lived as a teenager to a housewife. “I don’t like to stay in one place for a long time…”
"Hmm.." Castiel became thoughtful again. He wondered what it was like to be free. Heaven was in chaos again, and he couldn't just leave his brothers like she had though. He felt a sense of duty to them. He had led them, after all, on this path all those years ago. Twenty years. They felt like a lifetime compared to the millennia he had lived before he had even met the Winchesters, stopped the Apocalypse, and sent the world into a different kind of chaos. Monsters were let loose that hadn't been around for centuries. God ran away. He became God for a short time. So much had happened. He felt so tired. He wished for a moment that he was human so he could sleep. He needed to rest. "Do you have alcohol?" He asked as he sighed. Thinking about everything made him feel so tired, so weak.Â
"Coincidence." Castiel repeated the word. It is possible. Stranger things have happened. He didn’t bring up the family matter again. She seemed irritated, and if living on Earth had taught him anything, it was that women were strange and irrational. Whether they were angels...
Xapham ran her fingers through the ends of her hair as she watched him carefully. The question was a bit unexpected, but she was happy that he didn’t go on about the whole angel situation. “Animal companion? I forgot how uptight angels were…” She muttered with a little roll of her eyes. A small smile rested on her lips after a moment. “But it’s a small tabby, her name is Caspian.” She explained with a touch of satisfaction. Even in Heaven she had enjoyed watching the animals of Earth. They were so interesting compared to everything else
"Interesting." Castiel said as he momentarily drifted off into thought. Cats. Such notoriously stuck-up creatures. Why would she choose one of them? There temperament is less than desired, but then again, most shifters were dogs or bigger animals. Maybe cats was a safer choice? He suddenly realized he had been staring at her for a hefty minute. He cleared his throat. "So, what do you do? Down here, I mean. With the humans?" He wondered about her. An angel who seemed almost completely human. It was strange but very intriguing.
"You’re welcome," Castiel said as he released her hand. "We should move. More angels will be coming once word is out." He looked at her. This daughter of his best friend. My best friend. Yes, he liked Dean. It was not a secret that they shared a bond, but he never truly thought of it like that. He was Dean’s guardian, but yes, they were friends. Best friends. What an odd term. He looked at Evelyn. She had grown up so fast. “Alexander, is he well?” He hadn’t seen his son in quite some time, but he could sense his presence on her. A faint smell. He had been hinting so long that he had begun to have doubts, but the Winchesters and Novaks had always had a bond. It was only a matter of time.
” You’re right. The bunker, maybe? ” Evelyn proposed, looking down at her now fully healed hand. When Castiel brought Alexander to the conversation, Evelyn couldn’t help but blush. A shy smile appeared on her lips as she tried looking up into Cas’s eyes, but failed. ” He’s good, we uh… Saw each other not so long ago. I mean, we see each other pretty often, we’ve always been… Close. ” Eve responded. She wasn’t sure if Alex wanted to tell his father yet about their relationship, she didn’t want to go too fast.
"The bunker will do." Castiel said as he noticed Evelyn's cheek begin to shade red. He wondered for a moment if he had overstepped, but the thought didn't stay long. "I'm glad he is well." He smiled halfheartedly at the Winchester girl. He had been a pretty absent father, like his father. Trying to protect his son proved a more difficult task than he had imagined, especially when he possessed the angel powers most Nephilim did not. He looked at her. "Are you ready?" He asked before he whisked her off. He found most humans hated to be "teleported," as they called it, without a warning first.
Castiel tilted his head as he looked at her. “You are an angel.” His statement was simple but his voice hinted that he was surprised. He didn’t recognize her. “I’m sor..” he halted. Maybe it is best I act like I know her. "I shouldn’t have followed so closely." He…
Xapham just gave a small nod of her head, allowing her eyes to wander down. After a moment she recognized him, but she wasn’t sure after so long he even knew who she was. “Yes, I am Xapham.” She continued a quiet tone and gave the slightest smile. “And you are Castiel, unless I am mistaken.” As an angel she was a bit older than Castiel but she had left heaven long before gaining any sort of bond.
"Yes," Castiel was at a loss for words. Why was she here? Now of all times? Did she know something he didn’t? Were they even fighting on the same side? So many thoughts rushed into his mind. He tried to quiet them. He decided it was best to just ask her outright. Subtly was never his strong suit. “Why are you here?” He stared at her. If he could have, his eyes would have bore the answer right out of her mind.Â
((OOC: why when I reply does yours not show up?? lol))
The question was expected but not in that way.”Well, heaven is boring, it’s full of politics and war.” She moved her hands to the hem of her shirt. She had been with humans on and off. The first long period spent was as a housewife in the fifties. “Sorry to say but after Lucifer fell the whole angel thing became terribly awkward. Fight over what was right, it’s just easier to hang out here.”
"You abandoned your family." Castiel tilted his head, studying her. She left shortly after his creation. He didn’t know much about her. Only that she was older than him and that she had been neutral in all things Heaven related. "But why are you here?” he questioned again. He knew she had been roaming Earth, but could it really have been by accident that she ran into him at this one random spot? He wasn’t sure, but he was going to find out.
"The angels weren’t family. We all had three big brothers and we saw how they turned out." She shook her head and looked him over once more. These questions were getting repetive and quite annoying. "I’m here because I have to get food for my pets. I’m here because I enjoy living amongst humans." Xapham gave a small shrug of her shoulders. This wasn’t exactly the day she planned but here it was. "Coincidence happens, it’s not complicated."
"Coincidence." Castiel repeated the word. It is possible. Stranger things have happened. He didn't bring up the family matter again. She seemed irritated, and if living on Earth had taught him anything, it was that women were strange and irrational. Whether they were angels or not, he did not want to argue with one. He may have eternity, but he didn't want to spend it arguing over the fact of family. He remembered another thing she said though, and that peaked his interest. "What animal is your companion?" He had always been fond of the creatures God created, but never thought to keep one with him as the humans had throughout history.
Castiel tilted his head as he looked at her. “You are an angel.” His statement was simple but his voice hinted that he was surprised. He didn’t recognize her. “I’m sor..” he halted. Maybe it is best I act like I know her. "I shouldn’t have followed so closely." He…

As the last angel fell Cas turned to face Evelyn. “You truly are the daughter of Dean,” he scowled. “I thought I told you to run. If you had gotten hurt, Dean would have..” he stopped as he noticed blood dripping from her hand. “You are injured. Let me heal you.” He reached toward her.
((ooc)) Thank you! I have read most of them, but if I get anything wrong just let me know! lol Also, how do you put gifs and pictures further down. I couldn’t figure it out :(
The female hunter chuckled, smirking to herself. She just loved that compliment. ” Thanks! ” Evelyn responded, before turning her head to look at all the dead bodies. ” But i’m not hurt. Dean wouldn’t do anything to you, Cas, you’re his best friend. Okay, he’d probably yell, and swear. But that’s just regular angry Dean. ” The girl shrugged, letting out a sigh as Castiel approached her, telling her about the blood on her finger. Eve looked down at it and let the angel heal her. Even though it’s been years that she’s seen him heal people, it still amazed Evelyn. Because with every monster, every evil and bloody creature, there was still one that had a power to make good out of it. ” Thanks… ” She said, softly.Â
"You're welcome," Castiel said as he released her hand. "We should move. More angels will be coming once word is out." He looked at her. Castiel tilted his head as he looked at her. "You are an angel." His statement was simple but his voice hinted that he was surprised. He didn't recognize her. "I'm sor.." he halted. Maybe it is best I act like I know her. "I shouldn't have followed so closely." He apologized not for following her, he didn't see anything wrong with observation, but for doing it so close that she became uncomfortable.

Xapham was walking through the barren streets of the town with a phone in her hand. Her eyes wandered away from the phone in order to look out at the world around her instead. The angel slipped the device into her pocket, her eyes remained focused on the few people around her. There was a constant need to find out what all was there. “Oh, excuse me…” She murmured in a distracted state.
Castiel stared at her. This strange angel who bumped him without realizing. Maybe I am wrong? Is she an angel? Angels don't get distracted by those tiny devices? He thought as he pulled his from his trench coat. He only ever used it to communicate with Dean. It wasn't as easy as praying for him, but it did the job when angel radio was too risky. He put it back in his pocket and with a split second decision, he decided to follow her to see if she was truly an angel of Heaven or if his senses had started to dull.
-—-
Seeing the charred black wings spread across the floor, Castiel hung his head. “They thought it was only me in this field, so for now, I believe that is all they are sending, but we should go. They will send someone here once they realize what has happened.” He turned and faced Alexander. His head tilted to the side. “Why did you not leave? There could have been more. You could have been…” he paused, pain filled his voice. “You could have been hurt, Alexander.” He glanced back at the angels behind him. He had only seen them a few times. They had been on his side during the Apocalypse. How time had changed them. Now, they despised the beings they fought so hard to save.Â
Alexander shook his head at his father. “So could you,” he retorted. “Just because I could’ve gotten hurt doesn’t mean that you need to die instead.” He looked his father up and down. It had been so long since they had seen each other, yet nothing had changed on the angel. Of course not, he had a vessel, not a body. Nothing would ever change. “Let’s go,” Alexander said, voice hard as he prepared to fly. Where- he would let Castiel decide, and just follow him from there. He knew that there had been Nephilim born who had little powers and no wings, but Castiel being a Seraph, the leader of a garrison at that, must have given him some kind of extra juice. He was glad for it. He would hate to be towed around everywhere, or God forbid left behind.
"I have had many lives." Castiel sounded almost bitter, if even for a moment. "You have only one. I would rather die than you." He stared at him. "There is a safe house Dean once told me about. The shrill noise ended, but was soon met with the all too familiar sound of flapping wings. The noise, or more accurately, the voice was a warning. To him. Another of the archangels had formed an army. He steadied himself to fight, for the first time, along side his son. His son, who seemed so old. He could see that his son was capable of holding his own in a battle. He wasn’t sure if he should feel proud or sad. There had been too many battles, too much blood shed. Thankfully, when the wings touched down it was only four lesser angels, whose angel blades were drawn. There was to be no words. The two who landed behind Cas he swiftly got behind and pushed them to the ground looking to see how Alexander was doing with the others.
As his father whirled around, Alexander took his back, angel blade falling from his sleeve as he advanced forwards, swiping and missing at the first angel, but turning and stabbing it into the other’s stomach before removing it and plunging it into the first angel’s head. Alexander sunk to his knees. “I’m sorry, uncle,” he whispered before standing, knowing now was not the time for guilt to fill his mind. He turned to his father, who was watching him carefully. “How many more?” he asked, not looking at the burning piles behind his father or turning to see what he had done.
Seeing the charred black wings spread across the floor, Castiel hung his head. "They thought it was only me in this field, so for now, I believe that is all they are sending, but we should go. Castiel stood strong as the piercing noise continued. His son shouldn’t be here. He had developed emotions over the years, and what he was feeling now was fear. Not for him of course but for his offspring. His blood. He had died several times, hanging around the WInchester brothers does that, but he could not allow his son’s fate be tied with his dealings. The sound traveled closer to them. “Grab your blade and run,” his voice rang steady. He was good at hiding the emotions he had come to feel. “This is not your battle.”
"Oh hell no!” Alexander exclaimed. He had his blade at the ready, eyes flicking around them. “You disappear, and then when I finally find you, you just want me to.. to fuck off? No. I’m with you, father. I’m with you no matter what,” Alexander said, locking eyes with him and nodding. He wanted so desperately for Castiel to get it. They were family, and family wasn’t meant to just drop the others when they were in danger. Alexander needed his father, and he wasn’t going to let him die again when he was right next to him, young and ready to end this.
