ACROSS THE BAR
Joey did not give a damn. Not one bit. She was here to drink her issues away and enjoy herself while doing it. She had filed for divorce that morning, and her friends were well aware that she needed to let go. For her age, she was going to die an very early death if she didn’t learn to let go of her rage.
That’s when she saw someone walking up to her. She raised a brow and whipped around. In this state, she had no idea who it was that approached her, and she probably wouldn’t have cared if she did. Sober Joey would have pulled her shit together and tried to charm him into a delicate political conversation, but she didn’t care enough to do so.
“Can I help you?” she asked with a smile, standing up from her seat. “Or are you just passing by to get to the bar?”
As soon as she spoke, Alex knew he had chosen well. His night had gone from mundane to interesting in a few steps. Taking another sip of his drink, he finished with a lick of his lips. “You can definitely help me. It seems like you’re the only one in this place who looks like they are enjoying themselves. I’d like to be a part of it.”
With a nod of his head, he acknowledged her friends or whoever was next to her. “I can start by showing how serious I am. I’ll order a bottle of you and your friends. Get this party really started.”
