#MusicEducation Monday! Topic: #MusicAndScience.. What does an #atom sound like?!

According to the #ScientificJournal for the first time #scientists have captured the sound a single atom makes when it moves. The scientists found their atom makes a “D-note,” about 20 octaves above the highest note on the #piano and a pitch inaudible to the human ear.

Usually an atom charged with energy will emit a particle of light, a #photon, but the atom created by the #researchers was configured to both absorb and emit energy in the form of a sound particle called a #phonon.

According to the theory, the sound from the atom is divided into #quantumparticles… Such a particle is the weakest sound that can be detected..
