Today has been one of those days where you have to question your abilities as a parent. I've got a 7 year old and a 5 year old, and somedays I feel pretty good that I've managed to keep them alive this long. Though I think that's more because of their mum than me, today is proof of that. It's my weekend with the kids and I decided to take them to the park for a little bit of play. My 5 year old walked off while I was paying attention to her brother on the monkey bars. And then when I was going to get my daughter, my son fell off the monkey bars and took about 20 years off my life. Thankfully not a single child was hurt that day, but I'm starting to wonder if I should put a leash on the girl, and bubble wrap on the boy. Because she's always a runner, and he's always falling off something when they're with me. Does that make me a bad parent thinking like that? Because I think it might. @gonehollywoodstarters
oh, i question my ability to parent often -- like just yesterday i rocked my newborn daughter to sleep to enter sandman. oddly enough it put her to sleep, so i'm thinking i have a future metal head which would be hilarious. but honestly, it sounds like you have two kids that were just being kids, man. sometimes they run off -- sometimes they fall from the monkey bars, and as long as neither got hurt then i say you're doing a damned good job. plus as you said, you've managed to keep them alive and they're not seven and five, i call that a win! though i have a one year old that's just started to walk -- that leash idea might not be a bad thing because i'm pretty sure he's going to be a runner. and his favorite thing to do is wait until i'm busy with his sister to get into stuff. so if the idea of that makes you a bad parent, i suppose i am one too because i like the sound of it.
