Gigging with @jeffocheltreemusic and @natemarshall83 is always fun and interesting because you never know what kind of jam session you’re going to have. . We mostly play the same songs on every gig, but the outcome is always different. No song is ever the same twice. . The unpredictable nature, mixed with the ridiculous musicianship these two possess, always makes these gigs so fun. Back to basics. . It’s easy to fall into the trap of trying to learn the most complicated polyrhythms, combos, and riffs, and play the fastest, but sometimes where you progress the most is by going back to the bare bones basics. Simple quarter notes and 8th notes, in time with the metronome at 80bpm. THAT is where you really learn where your weaknesses are. And in turn, those basic fundamental rhythms will make all of that other fancy shit come easier for you later on. . 👈 SWIPABLE POST! 👉 . Just like that, another family vacation is in the books. . Life and work have been so busy, and we are grateful for that, but this was a much needed break from the grind. . From eating lots of food, swimming in the ocean, @legolandcalifornia, and s’mores on the beach, to airplane spotting, and 3am fire alarms, we had a blast. . “SPACE SOUNDS” . This is what I imagine playing drums in space would sound like haha. I made this loop using @wavesaudio Flow Motion Synthesizer and improvised over the top of it. .
