still red and healing but this is a Calabi-Yau manifold. the Calabi-Yau mathematically supports the extra dimensions required for string theory to exist. basically, this theoretical drawing visualizes the fundamental shape of space & the compacted multiple dimensions within it.

i first fell in love with string theory 8 years ago when i read Brian Greene’s “The Elegant Universe”. the complexity of spacetime and all matter consisting of invisibly tiny vibrating strings captivated me then & still does today. this drawing reminds me of the complexities of existence and humbles me when my problems seem too great.
