The smoke has drifted back. Bleh.
Ugh I looked into the xfinity soccer subscription and I guess Iām going to have to do some haggling so I can get it added to our plan. I am addicted now and conveniently, La Liga, the Premier League and the Bundesliga along with Italyās Serie A all begin in August.
I guess I am enjoying my sports now. All the sports.
This is the 85 year old creator of Roger Rabbit:
TIL that Gary K Wolf is awesome! And heās from Earlville, IL, a place I have been to because I once went to a yoga retreat near there. But even more importantly, heās a UIUC alum!

Don't just embrace the accent. Own it. Or, gift your loved ones near and far a little piece of Minnesota with a beyg from the North Star Sta
Welp Iām getting this.
Obviously Iām a fan of Minnesota and I love to support public radio!!
*my MN connection is my SIL and my brother (he is obviously not from MN but he has lived there with his family for over 15 years.)
One thing I do know is that I say bag in a very Midwestern way. It sounds kind of like baayyg. I donāt realize that I do it but Brian pointed it out and he does it too and now we joke about it whenever we say bag. Baaaag.
Bean: I like homophones.
Then we started talking about homophones and I looked up a chart and found this:
Some of these seem not quite right?
Sauce/source is the most obvious one to me. I do not pronounce sauce like source!
(But perhaps in a different accent, they would be homophones!)
Itās a fun list anyway.
I love these people that live under rocks!
But I would never comment something rude, which is what a lot of people do. I save that for here!
I went outside to collect the mail and my nose started itching and my throat got scratchy and that was from like, less then two minutes outside.
Chicken thighs marinated in garlic, herbes de Provence, apple cider vinegar, and Dijon. Browned in the instant pot. Sliced up more garlic (8 cloves!) and browned it in salted butter, then added the marinade and some water and pressure cooked for 5 minutes.
Removed chicken, heated the instant pot and added a quarter cup of heavy cream till the sauce thickened. I am licking the plate; itās that good.
I love garlic.
If you showed ChatGPT a picture with four lights and told it it has five lights, it would just say some bullshit like, "You're so right! That picture does have five lights. Good catch."
perfection. 10/10. no notes.
Another hot take from The Cut! I do various skin serums and sunscreen daily but I was never a daily makeup wearer and Iām even less so now because it usually makes my skin feel weird. I donāt know if I feel āhotterā because itās just how I look! Lol.
Also I have dark eyelashes so that probably helps too!
Is it socially acceptable to use opaque watercolors, or is that considered gouache?
The wildfires have reached us. The sky is all gray and it smells weird!
AITA for refusing to stay with my in laws on a trip I don't even want to go on?
So I (41f) live with my husband (44m) in a tropical vacation area. Each year his parents come for a couple months to house sit and the past couple years my mother has been invited to come visit as well. She helps with half the house sitting work. It's always been fine... Until this year.
This year the problem was my mother taking advantage of everyone's hospitality and expecting everything to be catered to her whims. This is typical behavior for her, she's a narcissist and a victim in every situation ever.
My in laws didn't handle the situation well though and rather than set boundaries early when they had the chance (they had several opportunities to speak up but kept saying "it's fine we'll make it work"), communicate their discomfort or use "I feel" description words, just boomed as boomers do and lashed out at her. This caused a massive rift in the household and my mother changed her ticket and left a week early. I have not seen my in laws since the fight and I don't intend to visit with them for the duration of their visit.
Here's where I might be an asshole: this fall is my MIL's 70th birthday and she has arranged a trip to an amusement park for the entire family. She has secured a large home for everyone to stay together. I was very much on the fence about the housing arrangement and quite frankly, I don't want to go. But I am because it's important to my husband whom I love very much. However after this fight between the parents I refuse to stay in the house with everyone. Part of the fight was the in-laws saying they need all the space to themselves and they aren't used to hosting people. So I'm not going to be in a situation where they are hosting me, ever. I might just eat the cost of the already purchased plane ticket and not go. This puts my husband in a hard spot as he is very close with his family, doesn't think they did anything wrong and was looking forward to staying with them.
So aita for refusing to stay with my in laws after they verbally attacked my mother?

the call is coming from inside the house, lady!
