Celebrating World IP Day 2018 - Powering change: Women in innovation and creativity.

Ali & Associates in collaboration with the US Consulate Karachi along with official media partner Aaj News celebrated World IP day by hosting a panel discussion. 

The panel consisted of notable personalities such as Shallum Xavier (Musician), Ambareen Thompson (Director I AM KARACHI), Adiyah Shah (Research and Strategy Lead for international business at Creative Chaos), Rufina Soomro (Doctor) and Sahira Kazmi (Actor).

World Intellectual Property Day - Visionary Innovators 

Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry called for creating awareness among masses to protect the Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in the country, saying Constitution of Pakistan guarantees the IPRs. He was talking to members of PIPRA (Pakistan Intellectual Property Rights Association) at the Convention Center of DHA, Golf Club, Karachi.

 Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan, Mr. Shakirullah Jan, Justice Sindh High Court, Mr. Sajjad Ali Shah, Mr. Karimullah Adeni (Managing Partner - Ali & Associates) also spoke on the importance of IPR.

Law firm SALOOSH merges into Ali & Associates

We are very proud to announce the merger of Saloosh, a boutique law firm, into Ali & Associates. The merger took effect on July 1, 2016. 

Saloosh is a long established firm, founded by well renowned senior lawyer Mr. Shams-ul-Haq, a towering figure in the legal fraternity, who joins Ali & Associates as Senior Counsel. Mr. Haq's experience spans 56 years and 3 major cities - Karachi, Lahore and Chittagong (Bangladesh).

 Mr. Karimullah Adeni briefed the honorable guests about the problems faced by the IP Owners. He also suggested possible solutions and remedies.

TRADEMARK INFRINGEMENT & COUNTERFEIT ISSUES FACED BY BRAND OWNERS

A seminar was organized by The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) on Intellectual Property Rights on “TRADEMARK INFRINGEMENT & COUNTERFEIT ISSUES FACED BY BRAND OWNERS” on 8th September, 2016.

On this occasion Mr. Karimullah Adeni, Managing Partner at Ali & Associates, who is also Senior Vice-Chairman - FPCCI Standing Committee on IPR Enforcement, briefed the audience about importance of Intellectual Property protection and steps that can be taken to avoid counterfeiting.

Shaikh Khalid Tawab (Sr. Vice President FPCCI), M. Farhan Hanif (Chairman FPCCI Standing Committee on IPR Enforcement) S. M. Muneer (CEO TDAP), Shahid Latif Khan (DG IPO Pakistan), Dr. Kaiser Waheed (Chairman PPMA) and other prominent personalities related to business also attended the event.

BRAND SCIENTIST AWARD (MASTERS BEHIND THE BRAND)

Mr. Karimullah Adeni, Managing Partner of Ali & Associates has been awarded with the Brands Foundation’s "Brand Scientist Award 2014" in recognition of his exceptional achievements and outstanding contributions as the Brand Guardian of Ali & Associates. The award was conferred to Mr. Adeni in a ceremony held at Karachi Marriott Hotel on 8th January 2015 where Mr. Khurram Dastagir Khan, Federal Minister for Commerce was the Chief Guest.

Meeting with Mr. John Dickerson, Senior Advisor to US Department of Commerce alongwith Mr. Greg Meir and Mr. Umair Mumtaz from the US Consulate, held at our office. Members of OICCI and notable stakeholders were also present. During the meeting the key areas concerning Intellectual Property Law and policies were discussed various stake holders identified issues regarding IP enforcement. Also, came under discussion, the expansion of local brands in the international markets and with growing demand of their products internationally, it has become increasingly important to strengthen enforcement of Intellectual Property in Pakistan.
