so i’m thinking of the beginning stages of the todomomo x reader relationship—and these high class idiots have no fucking chill. first of all, they don’t date. they fucking court like 1800s japanese emperors
so they’ve more or less confessed and you’re like “okay cool. I like you too, but can you give me some time to think about it?” and ofc they give you all the time and space you need, but they highkey think this is code for “win me over.” next thing you know, you get back from work and your apartment is filled with rose petals, there’s a hot tub in the middle of your living room and a live harp player who gives you a note that reads, “a small gesture of our appreciation of you. love, shouto and momo.”

⇢ just like with the underlying meaning of this song, atsumu is far from heartless. but he reverts back into bad habits when he’s afraid of being hurt. especially after becoming a pro, after years of hard-work and effort, atsumu knows how fragile everything he is. sometimes it feels like he’s nothing more than a public image.
⇢ your relationship takes a hit and you take a break for a while thereafter. its only then does atsumu embrace his vices likes it means his life. cars, money, drinking - anything to keep him away from thoughts of you. he can’t touch anyone else though still. too hung up on you. too in love.
⇢ when you give atsumu a second chance, or rather if you decide too, he cries so hard he nearly vomits. he needs you more than anything else. he doesn’t wanna revert to bad habits like that anymore, so he sticks to you for his life.
