“What are you doing out of bed?”

A wince of guilt struck her face, knowing exactly who had returned home early, “Hey, sweetie. How’s everyone at the office?”

She almost reluctantly turned around to see Damien crossing his arms and leaning against the kitchen entryway.

“They were all asking how bed rest was going,” he raised his eyebrows, giving her a knowing look. “Evidently, you’re not going with it.”

“It’s not a crime to want some pepperoni and saltines.” She leaned away, both hands on her lower back, “I counted thirteen steps from the bedroom to the kitchen. Are thirteen steps such a crime?”

Heading over to Damien’s house was something you didn’t wanna admit you were super excited about. Feelings on Damien aside, you were pumped to meet his fluff balls. At this point you’d heard so much about how much he pampers them that it was only a matter of time until you saw it for yourself.

Damien: “Well, here it is. The cat’s room.”

Walking in you saw a little pair of cats, sitting watching a colorful bird flap around on a tv screen. Shayne was completely right, they looked like an old married couple.

Damien: “They like their stories.”

He joked, going to pick up Freya and showing her to you like a trophy at a carnival. With extreme care he handed her over for you to hold, treating the cat like a fragile child as she seemed to resign to this fate.

You: “Aw she’s adorable…”

Damien: “Did we plan on doing something?”

You: “I’m sure but it can wait. There’s cats to love.”

Damien: “I like the way you think.”
